Aussie mullet fans show off their madcap mops as rural town is transformed for Mulletfest 2019

AN Australian town has been transformed as competitors turned out for the second annual Mulletfest – celebrating the most iconic of 80s hairdos.

Coiffed event-goers gathered in the rural town of Kurri Kurri, about 150km north of Sydney, to celebrate the infamous "business at the front, party at the back" hairstyle.

More than 160 people made their way to watch the contestants flaunt their hilarious hairdos to see who would win the official Best Mullet Of Them All title.

One event goer told news.com.au: “Mullet spotting is such a sport and it gives us a laugh.

“There are proud mullets as far as the eye can see.”

Men and women competed in different categories including the everyday mullet, extreme mullet, grubby mullet, ranga mullet, vintage mullet and junior mullet in the hope of being crowned winners in the style stakes.
