Adam Johnson's sister reveals joy at prospect of paedo footballer's release from prison this year

Faye Johnson has stood by the shamed ex-Sunderland star since he was locked up for six years in March 2016, today tweeting : "I can finally say my brother is home this year".

The 31-year-old is still in prison but he will be eligible for automatic parole in the spring after serving half his sentence.

Faye has been an outspoken supporter of her brother and has tweeted about his release a number of times over the past year.

Johnson was found guilty of engaging in sexual activity with a besotted 15-year-old fan – one just three weeks after his then girlfriend had given birth to their daughter.

He has admitted grooming the girl and one charge of sexual activity with a child, relating to kissing her.

But he denied there was any further sexual activity with the girl when he met up with her inhis Range Rover  County Durham and was cleared of one charge relating to another sexual act.

Faye has consistently supported her brother and has previously taken her son to visit his uncle at Moorlands jail, near Doncaster, South Yorks.

Johnson had hoped to be freed in October – five months ahead of schedule – after offering to coach budding footballers.

He has previously launched unsuccessful appeals against his conviction and is eligible for release in March this year.

The pervert met his victim when she was just 14 when she would wait for him after matches to get his autograph.

Johnson soon began grooming her online, despite knowing she was 15, before meeting her twice in his £80,000 Range Rover in January 2015.

His ex Stacey Floudners stood by the footie paedo right up until his trial began at Bradford Crown Court where the jury sensationally heard that the ex-air hostess had dumped him.

She also moved out of the couple’s £1.7 million mansion in Castle Eden in County Durham into a new nearby pad but continued to visit him in jail.

He pleaded guilty to grooming and a less serious charge of sexual activity with the girl.

The footy perv continued to pick up his £60,000-a-week wages from Sunderland after he was charged.

The midfielder is understood to be keen to resurrect his career but clubs could face a similar backlash to those who moved to sign Ched Evans following his release from prison after he was convicted of rape.
