YOU star Penn Badgley teases horrific twist for Joe and Love in season 3

*Spoiler warning for YOU season 2*

The finale of Netfix thriller YOU left creepy Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) free from all his worries with neighbour Delilah, ex Candace, and Forty Quinn all dead and unable to expose him.

Reconciled with a pregnant Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) – who proved to be a sweet serial killer herself – it seemed that Joe was ready to settle down.

However, star Badgley has insisted that it will not be a happy ending for Joe and Love.

Speaking to TV Line , Badgley explains: "Even Joe says, pretty unequivocally, that they’re not soulmates.

"He's afraid of her at the end. Basically, it’s set up for Season 3 in a way where they would be each other’s arch-nemesis."

The actor also discussed whether there is any hope of redemption for the controversial Joe Goldberg, and whether he has any hope of being a good father.

"Probably not," says Badgley. "Does he have it in him, in that he’s a human being? Is it possible ? Sure. And if there’s anything that can change a person, it’s parenthood.

"But I don’t know that Joe can or should change. I certainly don’t know if he will change."

There's also the tease at the end of the second season of Joe finding a new obsession to focus on, will he be able to resist chasing a new 'you'?

"It’s definitely a dangerous cycle," Badgley confirms. “It's kind of like old patterns and habits. We recognize them more as we get older, and we often find that they’re extremely hard to break.

"Maybe that’s what we’re seeing with him? His particular cycle is so awful. Technically, he has improved. Yes, he was going to kill Love, but he stopped when she told him she was pregnant.

"I really don’t know what's in store there."

Netflix has yet to officially confirm a third season of the drama, but Badgley seemingly let slip it would be soon on the way.

YOU seasons 1 and 2 are available now on Netflix.
