X Factor’s Zara McDermott had hypnotherapy to battle stage fright ahead of show

Former Love Island star and X Factor hopeful Zara McDermott has opened up about her struggles with stage fright and how she sticks it to her overwhelming anxiety.

The 22 year old, who's one quarter of X Factor Celebrity's No Love Lost, told that she'd received hypnotherapy ahead of going on the show as she suffers from stage fright.

Singing alongside fellow 2018 Islanders Wes Nelson , Samira Mighty and Eyal Booker, Zara's managed to impress so far, but it's taken a lot of work for her to get over the fear of public performance.

The brunette beauty told The Sun Online : "This experience has been more than just a TV show to me, it's actually changed my life.

"Before the show I was unable to sing in public and I had hypnotherapy to help with my stage fright , but being in the band and having the support of Wes, Samira and Eyal standing by my side has meant that I have overcome my fears of performing in public."

She added: "Before the show I was such a bundle of nerves when it came to singing in public, but I'm so proud of myself for overcoming this.

"The live shows have been more than just a performance to me, it's shown that I can do it and it's enabled me to do what I love with three people who I love and respect. "

Zara's pretty chuffed that her pals are about, adding: "I owe my band mates a lot because they encourage me so much to believe in myself and reminded me to have confidence in myself.

"My band mates are so supportive and I couldn't ask for a better group of people around me. I'm not hiding away in my bedroom singing now, I'm writing music and I'm heading out onto one of Britain's most famous stages.

"I'm so thankful and appreciative to Wes, Samira and Eyal for sharing this experience with me. I can honestly say that we are the closest we have ever been and we have music to thank for that!"

X Factor's back on our telly screens this evening, with No Love Lost up against some stiff competition.

Former Towie diva turned angel-voiced country singer Megan McKenna has wowed the judges and fans so far, and some reckon she's got it in the back.

Football world legend Vinnie Jones is also taking to the stage, soon after the sad passing of his wife Tanya.

In the outside world, Zara's loved up with beau Sam Thompson, the loveable blond Made in Chelsea and Celebs Go Dating rogue.

Zara's even shown her face on the show as Sam made his triumphant return following an emotional exit two seasons before.
