LEGENDARY broadcaster Nicholas Parsons has sadly passed away aged 96.

The entertainer had become a household name thanks to his long career as a radio and television presenter.

Who was Nicholas Parsons?

TV and radio broadcaster Nicholas was born on October 10, 1923.

He was best known for hosting the comedy Radio 4 game show Just A Minute since its inception in 1967.

He also hosted Sale Of The Century between 1971 and 1983 – setting a record with 21million viewers.

In recent years Nicholas appeared on Celebrity Mastermind in December 2007 and played Father Gorman in the Agatha Christie's Marple The Pale Horse in 2010.

How did Nicholas Parsons die?

On January 28, 2020 it was revealed Nicholas had died aged 96 after battling a "short illness".

In a statement issued by his agent Jean Diamond, on behalf of his family, said: "Nicholas passed away in the early hours of the 28th of January after a short illness at the age of 96.

"He was with his beloved family who will miss him enormously and who wish to thank the wonderful staff at the Stoke Mandeville Hospital."

Was Nicholas Parsons' married?

Nicholas was married twice.

He wed actress Denise Bryer in 1954 and they had two children.

The couple divorced in 1989.

He then married Ann Reynolds in 1995.
