Who is Tim Heatley from Manctopia: Billion Pound Property Boom?
MANCTOPIA: Billion Pound Property Boom is on BBC Two TONIGHT (August 18).
The show looks at Manchester's property developers – one of which is Tim Heatley.
Who is Tim Heatley?
Tim Heatley is a properly developer and co-founder of Capital & Centric.
He is from Eccles and studied Law at Manchester University.
While studying, he began selling art and restoring cars that he'd buy on auction in Trafford Park, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
He bought his first house on Gloucester Road in Salford, and only after then did he begin a property career.
Now Tim is a dad of four and is passionate about building affordable housing, which the BBC Two show will look into.
He chairs the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity which has worked to raise £2million for homelessness charities.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Tim said: "We have to do something to make sure that families are not priced out of their neighbourhood.
"If we just have high earning people in the city centre, it’s going to lose its edge, diversity and creativity. The city will burst.
"That’s what attracts investment. You can’t just have accountants and lawyers living in the city.
"Manchester has never been boring, it’s exciting, and the population needs to reflect that.
"We have to make sure that everyone can live in or around the city."
But The Times reported that his upcoming big developments don't include affordable housing.
Tim is currently working on the area behind Piccadilly station that's known for being an oral sex hot spot, where people can pay just £4.99 for the act.
BBC says: "Manchester's become one of the fastest developing cities in Europe, but some locals feel they've had no luck."
The show will look at the lives of people suffering from the boom in housing prices.
Manctopia: Billion Pound Property Boom is on BBC Two tonight (August 18) at 9pm.
There are four episodes in the documentary series.
It will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
