Who is Kat Slater actress Jessie Wallace, when did she come back to EastEnders and is she married?
Here's everything you need to know about the actress who recently returned to Albert Square, and partied a little too hard at the British Soap Awards 2018…
Who is Jessie Wallace's EastEnders character Kat Slater?
Kat Slater, a.k.a. Kathleen Moon, arrived in Walford in 2000 with her family: dad Charlie, grandma Mo Harris and sisters Little Mo, Lynne and Zoe.
She managed to get a job as a barmaid in the Queen Vic and swiftly became a fan favourite for her mouthy, loud behaviour.
Some of her biggest storylines included the revelation that her sister Zoe was actually her daughter, and of course her turbulent on-off relationship with Alfie Moon.
Her relationship with Alfie has been interrupted by an affair with his cousin, a dramatic and controversial baby swap, another three-month affair with Derek Branning, and Alfie's aborted marriage to Roxy Mitchell.
Jessie has won multiple awards for her portrayal of Albert Square legend Kat.
When she first arrived in Albert Square, Jessie won the British Soap Award for "Best Newcomer" in 2001. She was then nominated for "Best Actress" every year from 2002-2006, and again in 2011.
She won "Most Popular Newcomer" in 2001 and "Most Popular Actress" in 2003 at the National Television Awards. She was also nominated in "Most Popular Actress" in 2002, 2004 and 2005.
The scenes revealing Kat as Zoe's mother have been named as some of the most iconic in EastEnders history.
What was Redwater about?
Kat and Alfie left Albert Square in 2016 and travelled to sleepy Irish fishing village Redwater, in search of Kat's long-lost son.
When she was just 14, Kat gave birth to twins in a convent after being sexually abused by her uncle Harry.
While the girl Zoe was raised as Kat’s sister among her family, the boy was taken by the nuns to Ireland and given the name Luke.
Kat headed to Redwater to try and track her son down in the six-part drama.
When did Kat Moon come back to EastEnders?
EastEnders fans were delighted when they learned Kat Moon was returning to Walford.
Jessie rejoined EastEnders thanks to show boss John Yorke — who brought her Slater clan to the soap back 2000.
An insider said: “John loves the Slaters.
"A lot of people thought he might bring some of them back."
Dan Wootton's Bizarre Column revealed in February 2018 how Kat's comeback would not be plain sailing for her family.
Indeed Kat's nearest and dearest were told she had died.
The Sun confirmed that Big Mo would return to the square and rock Walford by announcing Kat's death.
She broke the news to Albert Square on March 16, weeping as she told Stacey Fowler Kat had passed away.
But all was not as it seemed and soon enough a very much alive and kicking Kat marched back into town.
Did Jessie Wallace fall out with her sister?
Jessie, 46, had a ten-year feud with her glamour model sister Danielle Mason after Danielle accused Jessie of turning her back on her stepdad Ron when he was in hospital with leukaemia.
She said at the time: “Jessie’s behaviour has disgusted us. Dad was dying in intensive care, Mum was in pieces and Jessie couldn’t even be bothered to pick up the phone.
“Luckily he pulled through. But if he hadn’t, he would have died without Jessie ever seeing him again. And the worst part of it is, I don’t think she cared.”
However, they patched things up last year when their grandfather passed away.
A source said: “Encouraged by family, the sisters reached out to each other last year and decided to bury the hatchet once and for all. They’re both mothers and they want their kids to grow up knowing each other.
"Danielle’s been supporting Jessie after her spin-off show Redwater flopped and she worries about her future in EastEnders."
Is Jessie Wallace married?
Jessie has never been married, but the star has had something of a colourful love life.
When she first joined EastEnders, she was coming to the end of a three-year relationship with Majorca based ex-criminal, Paul Whitworth. When that relationship ended, she had a holiday romance with a 25-year-old American who sold his story.
She raises a daughter with policeman Dave Morgan, whom she met when she was arrested for driving while being one and half times over the limit.
In 2011, Jessie dumped fiance, Vince Morse, on their wedding day after he admitted sending an explicit picture of the actress to his ex.
In 2016, Jessie split from her ex-crack addict boyfriend Tim Arnold after he became "tired" of fame and was later spotted hanging out with a mystery man in Liverpool.
