Who is Dr Alex George? Star of Love Island 2018 and Good Morning Britain doctor

Who is Dr Alex George?

Dr Alex George is an A&E doctor, currently working at the University Hospital Lewisham in South East London.

The 27-year-old, who is originally from Carmarthen, Wales, studied medicine at Exeter University.

According to the Daily Mail, Alex was able to secure the eight-ten weeks required to appear on Love Island by working on a zero hours contract.

The controversial contracts mean their bosses are under no obligation to give them work and the hospitals are powerless to stop employees from pursuing other projects.

Has Dr Alex George got a TV gig?

ITV bosses announced that the doc has been given the role of Health Editor on Good Morning Britain.

The A&E doctor, 27, steps in for Dr Hilary Jones when the latter can't make the show.

He has spoken of his hopes for the role, explaining: “I’m passionate about the job. Of course, I’m going to be going back to the NHS, but in the meantime, I really hope that I can use the platform that I have to talk about things that are topical and affect people in everyday life.

"Particularly the younger generation – things relating to sexual health, mental health, body image… all kind of topics that I’d really like to discuss and talk to young people about.”

Is Dr Alex George seeing anyone?

Despite not finding love on TV, rumours have surfaced that Alex has been dating Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller. 

Alex first met up with Aimee at the Davis Cup in Glasgow, where they watched Team GB triumph on the tennis court.

The snowboarder, also 27, shared a cosy snap of the pair outside the venue.

Meanwhile, Alex shared a picture of the two of them working out together.

What did Dr Alex George say about Love Island?

It was revealed Love Island contestants would face a strict new ban on drunken sex and nudity and Alex promised to abide by them before entering the villa.

He said: "You’re recorded 24 hours a day and I just want to make sure that I behave in the right way.

"I absolutely love my job, I’ve worked since the age of 13 to get here and I go to work every day and I genuinely enjoy it."

If he finds fame on the show, Alex believes he will still return to his successful career: "I would probably go back and do it part time, if I could mix it with TV work I would."

He added: "I think there’s probably room for a new TV doctor!"
