Who is Crissy Rock? What's her background?

Crissy Rock (née Murray), 60, is a comedian and actress from Liverpool.

She first found fame in the late 80s when she appeared on a revival of the talent show Opportunity Knocks fronted by Bob Monkhouse.

Her performance was awarded the highest marks of any comedy act that had ever appeared on the series.

After being voted runner-up for Merseyside's Club Comedian of the Year she went on to perform in various clubs around the UK.

In the mid 00's she relocated to Benidorm where she played ten shows a week as a stand-up comedian.

In her 2011 autobiography This Heart Within Me Burns Crissy opened up about her childhood sex abuse ordeal and being raped at the age of 15 which led to the birth of her daughter Tracy, 42. 

The comedian was also married to an abusive husband followed by an alcoholic.

Speaking to The Sun Tracy said: “Mum not only went through all that trauma as a child, she then went through a terrible time as an adult too.

"…I only knew when I was older how bad things had been and what my mum had gone through."

In July 2018 Crissy married businessman Julian Buck at a movie themed ceremony in Stockport cinema.

When is Crissy Rock starring in All New Monty?

Crissy Rock will star in The All New Monty on ITV in 2019.

The show sees celebs strip off in the name of raising awareness of carrying out checks for breast cancer.

Other stars who will be baring all include Love Island's Megan Barton Hanson and Tennis star Martina Navratilova.

The show, previously named The Real Full Monty, featured Victoria Derbyshire and Colleen Nolan in last year's series.

Who did Crissy Rock play in Benidorm? What else has she been in?

Crissy Rock played the miserable hotel manager Janey York in the first four series of the show.

She was offered the role after being spotted by writer Derren Litten while she was performing in Benidorm.

She returned with a guest appearance in series five and had a recurring role throughout series seven.

In 2018 she appeared on the documentary Benidorm Ten Years On Holiday which looked back at the show's success over the past decade.

The star also took part in the 2011 series of I'm A Celebrity, finishing sixth – a memorable moment was when she lost her false teeth during a sky dive and had to have them returned to her via helicopter.

The following year she appeared on Celebrity Mastermind with French painter Toulouse-Lautrec as her specialist subject.
