Strictly Come Dancing is heating up as it heads into Musical Week, with only seven couples remaining in the competition. As a result, the couples are working extra hard to impress the judges and viewers at home with their performances. While chatting about the quality of this year’s contestants, former Strictly professional AJ Pritchard has revealed which couple he believes will make it all the way to the final of the BBC dance show.
BBC Breakfast was hosted by Naga Munchetty and Roger Johnson on Saturday morning and the presenters welcomed AJ and his dancer brother Curtis Pritchard onto the show.
While on the programme, the siblings chatted about Strictly Come Dancing and the celebrities that have impressed them most this year.
Curtis and AJ were quick to mention EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis, who has made Strictly history this year by becoming the first deaf contestant on the show.
The brothers praised the star for her Couples Choice routine which she performed last week.
The emotional performance saw Rose and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice dance to Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson’s hit track Symphony.
However, they surprised viewers by having a special silent section of the dance in a bid to raise awareness for the deaf community.
Commenting on the power of the routine, AJ said: “It’s really nice when you watch a performance like that.
“You don’t judge it as a professional dancer, you don’t judge it, you actually become a part of it.
“When you make that moment, that impact on Strictly, it will last forever, an eternity,” he explained.
AJ went on to reveal he has high hopes for Rose and Giovanni and expects to see them make it to the very end of the competition.
“I do believe they’ll make the final,” the dancer insisted.
He shared his hopes that the dance duo will perform the Couples Choice routine again if they make it to the finale.
“Who can beat that dance? Who can take the emotions away from that?” AJ remarked.
His brother Curtis chimed in: “They better do that dance!”
Praising Rose further, AJ said: “I think what’s really nice with her is you see the improvement every single week.
“She takes on board the constructive criticism, with Giovanni really pushing her,” he noted.
“She performs well under pressure and I love that about her,” AJ added.
Curtis agreed: “Giovanni’s loving it as well, dancing with her, he really is.”
Rose and Giovanni will be performing a musical theatre themed Quickstep for Strictly’s Musical Week on Saturday night.
They’ll be dancing their routine to Love Is An Open Door from Frozen.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:35pm on BBC One.
