He loves The Strokes, dogs, and guacamole. Some fans just met Antoni Porowski in 2018, when Netflix premiered the first season of their series, Queer Eye. Now, with four seasons and a mini-series, entitled Queer Eye: We’re in Japan under their belt, the Fab Five branched off and found success in other places. That includes food and wine expert, Antoni Porowski, who owns the New York City restaurant, the Village Den.

This restaurant specializes in foods for people with dietary restrictions. There’s plenty of gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options on the menu, all approved by the Queer Eye expert himself. Some other recipes by Antoni Porowski can be found in his New York Times Bestselling cookbook, entitled Antoni in the Kitchen. Released on Sept. 9, 2019, this book contains stories and recipes of the chef, co-written by Mindy Fox.

Antoni Porowski is the ‘Queer Eye’ food and wine expert

Perhaps what Antoni Porowski is best known for is his work on the Emmy-award winning television show, Queer Eye. There, Antoni Porowski inspires local heroes to eat healthier, with quick, easy, and inexpensive recipes and an avocado or two. Presumably, most of Porowski’s money comes from his appearance in this series. Additionally, during one interview, the food and wine expert commented on the legacy of the Netflix show.

“It’s kind of like when you learn about somebody who’s queer, and you don’t understand why they would want to get married or have children or have, like, the same rights that straight cisgender people do,” Antoni Porowski said during an interview with CBC.

“But as soon as you get to learn their stories, which is exactly what we do on Queer Eye, and you get to learn who we are as individuals, suddenly it’s like you’re just a person,” he continued. “You’re a human being underneath all of that stuff. And I think Queer Eye has given us an opportunity to do that.”

Episodes of Queer Eye, including their recently released mini-series Queer Eye: We’re in Japan, are available for streaming on Netflix.
