Vikings is a popular historical drama series airing on History and Amazon Prime, and the series is taking a mid-season break. In the first half of season 6, fans saw the Rus leader Oleg (played by Danila Kozlovsky) lead an invasion on Scandinavia with Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen). Fans are wondering whether Oleg and his second wife Katia (Alicia Agneson) will turn on Ivar and kill him in the second half of the season.

Will Oleg and Katya kill Ivar the Boneless?

Fans of Vikings were introduced to Oleg and Katia in the first half of season 6 after the Rus leader was visited by Ivar the Boneless.

Oleg of Novgorod is the Grand Prince of Rus and he was responsible for killing and torturing his own brothers to stay in power.

He initiated a plan to invade Scandinavia and convert the Vikings to a Christian faith and he convinced Ivar to join him to get revenge on his family.

Fans were also introduced to Oleg’s second wife, Katia, who is played by the same actress who played Ivar’s wife Freydis.

Viewers believe Katia is a reincarnation of Freydis, as Ivar murdered Freydis by strangling her. They believe Katia and Oleg may be working together to kill Ivar.

There are many reasons to believe Katia would want to get her revenge on Ivar, as he killed Freydis after she showed so much faith in him.

She was the one who encouraged him to believe he was favoured by the gods, and his new-found self-confidence was a result of her encouragement.

Before Freydis was killed she told Ivar she had a similar name to the goddess Freya – the goddess of love – so she may possess special powers of seduction.

If Freydis did really reincarnate into Katia in season six, she could be using her powers to seduce Ivar once more, luring him into a false sense of security.

She could also be using Oleg as a distraction so Ivar will not suspect her motives, believing Katia is only trying to support her husband Oleg in battle.

When Ivar first saw Katia he recognised her as Freydis straight away, but when he confronted her about it she denied the claim.

Still, she and Ivar grew extremely close and ended up sharing some intimate moments behind Oleg’s back.

However, there was one scene in the first half of the series when Ivar and Katia are speaking outside and Oleg spots them from the corner of his eye.

There is a chance he knows Katia is trying to seduce Ivar, and he is already in on the plan to get Ivar on their side.

Fans have taken to Reddit to discuss whether Katia is actually Freydis, and whether she has joined with Oleg to get revenge.

EvaUnitKenway said: “Is Katia actually Freydis? I know it’s the same actress, but just some things seem really odd to me.

“Oleg and Katia are working together. My sister thought ‘Oh, Freydis is mad that Ivar tried to kill her so she’s getting him back’.

“While I say ‘Oh, Oleg knows that Katia looks like Ivar’s dead wife, so they are helping each other to bring Ivar down?’ Are we both wrong, what’s going on?”

Fans believe there is some truth behind Oleg using Katia as a way to get inside Ivar’s head, as he discovered she looks like the wife Ivar murdered.

Ghostface1357 said: “I think Oleg only started to f*** with Ivar once he found out that Katia reminded him of him of his wife.

“I don’t think it was intentional, but now it’s just Oleg being a troll and f****** with Ivar.”

However, some fans believe Katia will in fact join Ivar in order to overthrow Oleg, as Ivar has already helped Oleg’s brother Dir (Lenn Kudrjawizki) escape his grasp.

Azrael21X said: “I think Ivar planned that as soon as he saw Freydis/Katia. That’s why he helped Dir to escape, to overthrow Oleg and winning Katia for himself, while also allowing Prince Igor (which he clearly loves in some way) to be free of Oleg.”

Igor (Oran Glynn O’Donovan) is the rightful their to the throne of the Kievian Rus and he is Oleg’s nephew – but he and Oleg do not get along.

Ivar and Igor took a liking to each other, and Ivar seems to be protective over Igor, feeling Oleg is too harsh on him.

Fans are hoping season six part B reveals whether Katia is working with Ivar or Oleg, and what her motives are.
