Top Boy season 3 ending explained: What happened at the end?

Top Boy season three has 10 episodes in total, six more than the first two seasons. The series originally aired on Channel 4 in 2011 and 2013 but was cancelled in 2014. Thankfully, Canadian rapper Drake loved the show and paired with Netflix to bring it back. The new series is better and bigger than ever with Dushane (played by Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kane Robinson) taking no prisoners. The season finale of Top Boy, You Don’t Know Me, was not short of tension, violence and shocking plot twists. Here’s a recap of what happened at the end of Top Boy.

What happened at the end of Top Boy season 3?

Top Boy season three had an ending that fans never seen coming.

At the end of the episode, a certain character turned out to be alive and there was a surprise trip to prison for one of the characters.

However, the biggest twist of all came when the two drug users Sarah (Isla Jackson-Ritchie) and a currently unnamed man turned out to be undercover officers investigating Dushane and his drug network.

The episode came to an end with a female investigator saying “This guy shouldn’t be on our streets. He should be inside for the rest of his life.”

At the moment, it remains unknown whether there will be another season of Top Boy but judging by the shocking cliffhanger ending, another season is very possible.

Here’s a quick recap of the Top Boy finale’s most jaw-dropping moments.

WHO PLAYS LIZZIE IN TOP BOY?

Dushane

By the finale, Dunshane seemed to be the Top Boy once again in East London.

Lizzie (Lisa Dwan) agreed to become his supplier, which meant a supply of 15 kilos of drugs per month.

He also worked things out with Shelley (Little Simz), agreeing to attend her daughter’s swimming competition in a few weeks time.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for his relationship with his mother, which had deteriorated by the end.

In a surprise twist, Dushane visited his enemy Jamie (Micheal Ward) in prison admitting that he had the “right idea” all along.

He said: “You had the right dream” to which Jamie replied: “I’m glad you like it.”

Dushane then offered to work with Jamie on the outside, so they could become the biggest suppliers for the whole of London.

He also offered to help Jamie get out of prison after Jamie took the fall for something he technically did not do.

Dushane had hacked into Jamie’s CCTV and footage proves that the green bag pack that got him in jail,  did not belong to Jamie, but belonged to Atticus.

However, Dushane does not know that the police are also looking into him and his carelessness may be his downfall.

Viewers were also left wondering what this would mean for Atticus, who sadly got roped into the drug world trying to fight his family’s deportation.

IS DRAKE IN TOP BOY?

Modie

After Modie (David Omoregie) escaped from custody in episode eight, he regained control of the London Fields gang.

Determined to wipe out the opposition, he ambushed Dushane’s and Sully hideout in a bid to kill them.

However, he was unsuccessful and Dushane and Sully were able to escape.

Modie and Jermaine were able to take Lizzie (Jamie’s supplier, therefore Modie’s supplier) into their hands after Dushane and Sully fled the hideout.

After Modie visited a doctor to get treatment for his eye, which had been badly burned from prison attack, he was stopped by police on his drive home.

He was shot by police in the street, which set Jamie and Lizzie free meaning Jamie was back on the streets, running the gang.

With the gang and viewers believing Modie to be dead, in the 57th minute of the finale, Modie turned up alive, sporting an eye patch.

Unfortunately, it was not revealed what went down between the police and Modie, or how he made it back onto the streets of London but with Modie being free, does this mean he will want to seek revenge?

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER SERIES OF TOP BOY?

Jamie

A cunning plan created by Dushane and Sully meant that Jamie would be taken off the streets for good.

Sadly, this meant Jamie’s brothers – innocent Aaron (Hope Ikpoku), his girlfriend and younger brother Stefan –  were arrested by police after a gun and drugs were planted in their flat by Atticus, on Jaq’s (Jasmine Jobson) orders from Dushane.

Jamie gave himself up to the police, telling them it was his gun and drugs in the bag pack, ending up with 20 years jail time.

Surprisingly, the series came to an end with Dushane visiting him in jail, offering to help him out.

Dris

Sully killed Dris (Shone Romulus) after Dris betrayed Summerhouse by working for London Fields.

In episode nine, Jermaine (Ashley Thomas) approached Dris offering more money so he could provide for his daughter.

However, part of the deal was that Dris gave up Sully and Dushane’s whereabouts.

Dris gave in to the deal and in episode nine, Sully and Dushane were ambushed by Modie and co, narrowly escaping death.

Sadly, Dris’ disloyalty led to his death, leaving behind his younger daughter Erin without a mother.

Sully

Sully’s relationship with Dushane appeared fractured again after he killed Dris.

Throughout the episode, Sully had been suffering from PTSD after the death of Jason (Ricky Smarts).

The final scene of Sully and Dushane arguing seemed to suggest that Sully had decided to walk away from Summerhouse which would explain by Dushane approached Jamie to be his new partner.

In his final moments of season three, Sully was seen waiting outside his daughter’s school as he watched his ex-girlfriend collect their daughter.

Sully broke down in tears after seeing them both, so if season two is given the green light, perhaps it will follow Sully as he tries to turn his life around.
