Tobias Ellwood cut off GMB after hitting back at Piers Morgan’s interview technique

Good Morning Britain continued on ITV today with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid who continued to discuss the fact that government ministers were boycotting the morning show. Piers Morgan gave a furious rant early in the show asking why Health Secretary Matt Hancock was refusing to be interviewed, but it was when they interviewed a friend of Hancock’s, Tobias Ellwood, when the interview was thrown into chaos.

Morgan dove straight in today and asked Mr Ellwood if he thought Matt Hancock should indeed be on GMB today explaining to viewers what is happening.

Ellwood said: “Well I don’t really know what reason he isn’t able to make it today-”

He was instantly cut off by Morgan who said the boycotting had been going on for ten days now.

However, it was later in the show when things got heated, Elwood was discussing Mr Johnson’s speech and said: “He doesn’t look 100%, which is not surprising he was in ICU weeks ago, all a bit too much for him.”

Morgan added: “Tobias, you say he has been on top of things, this is a direct clip from Boris Johnson yesterday, see if you can tell me what the hell he is talking about.”

Morgan showed a blip of Johnson telling the UK to go to work if they absolutely have to.

Ellwood replied: “Okay, you have chosen three or four seconds of I don’t know what it was an hour an hour and a half speech.”

Morgan bit back: “He’s telling people to stay at home or go to work what does that mean?”

Ellwood replied: “I don’t even know what question he was answering there. The key message is if you absolutely can’t go to work safely and common sense must apply here, then you absolutely must work from home -”

Morgan interrupted again: “He didn’t say that he said to stay at home or go to work.”

The host showed the clip again but Ellwood chipped in and said: “Piers, Piers, Piers we could take three or four seconds of you and your performance and say you are not on board.

“And heaven forbid someone would make a judgement on that I think give the Prime Minister a break.”

One viewer said: “@Tobias_Ellwood running away from @GMB and @piersmorgan this morning…. at least that’s what appears to have happened!! “More and more are waking up to the reality of this govts incompetence and boycotting #GMB just reinforces how incompetent, and dangerous, they really are!”
