Tipping Point has made several contestants’ pockets heavy after winning big on the ITV game show which is hosted by Ben Shephard. But sometimes it isn’t about the cash they take home but the accolades of breaking show records. During a repeat episode which aired last night, viewers tuned in t see player Dan reach a new high.

During Tuesday night’s instalment, Ben was joined by four more hopefuls all ready and rearing to win big.

After defeating all three contestants and three rounds, Dan found himself in the game show’s final and it was here when he set a new record.

Initially, the young contestant pointed out several times that most of the subjects were not his “strong points”.

And because of this, he hadn’t accumulated much money.

But his luck changed when he faced the machine for the final round.

Fire up drop zone four please,” Ben remarked as the Tipping Point machine lit up.

“Here you got then Dan, drop the counter in and see what happens,” the host advised.

Tension built in the studio as the camera zoomed in on Dan’s button and he released the all-important counter.

“It’s heavier so it’s going to go quite quickly,” he tactically explained.

Those watching at home saw it shoot down the zone and Ben remarked: “Rattled down, nice and flat.”

And then the shelves started moving: “Finally got some of them across the top shelf, start with a really good drop here. That’s a nice start!”

But the counters didn’t stop dropping: “That’s an incredible drop, 18 counters across the tipping point!” Ben exclaimed.

“Jackpot counter just going in which takes you up to £2000 that equals the most we’ve had on a single drop in round four,” the host continued.

Stunned by the jackpot total racking up, Ben revealed: “You’re now sharing a tipping point record!”

The round was not over as the jackpot counter repositioned itself on the shelf.

Ben said: “Great start and your jackpot counter, nice and flat, right there, just towards the centre of the drop zone.”

As for how much Dan actually won, after declining to take a risk and gamble his winnings for the possible £10,000 or even £20,000 total, he took £4,000 home.

But this was not all, as he had also won a wine tasting experience.

Dan admitted: “I’ve had the world’s best time!”
