Series three of The Young Offenders dropped as a boxset on BBC Three and the BBC iPlayer on Sunday, July 19. The series will premiere on BBC One on Fridays at 9.30pm from Friday, July 24 but who is in the cast of the third season? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
Who is in the cast of The Young Offenders season 3?
Conor MacSweeney – Alex Murphy
Alex Murphy returns as Conor MacSweeney in The Young Offenders season three.
Speaking to the BBC, Alex revealed what he has most in common with his character Conor.
He said: “I can zone out sometimes and the whole world could pass me by and I might not notice anything happening!
“Myself and Conor have that similarity anyway as he kind of floats away in his head which I can be guilty of a bit.”
Murphy is a 22-year-old actor from Cork, Ireland best known for his portrayal of Conor.
For his performance in The Young Offenders film, he received an IFTA nomination for best actor in a lead film role.
In March 2019, he and co-star Chris Walley were jointly nominated for a Royal Television Society Award in The Best Male comedy performance category.

Jock O’Keeffe – Chris Walley
Chris Walley is back as Conor’s best friend and foster brother, Jock O’Keeffe.
Season three of The Young Offenders will see Jock come to terms with fatherhood.
Speaking to the BBC about season three, Walley said: “For Jock, I mean it’s a very obvious one, but he’s a father now and I think he’s just absolutely terrified but also very, very excited.
“I think that’s just what you see in this series is how he’s coping with that and the responsibilities he now faces.
“Obviously the lads still end up getting themselves into terribly sticky situations, and now throw a baby into the mix and everything gets a whole lot more exciting and messy – we end up in some funny situations!”
Walley is a 25-year-old Irish screen and stage actor from Cork, Ireland.
He is best known for playing Jock and the role earned him an IFTA Award.
Walley most recently starred in the Sam Mendes film 1917 as Private Bullen.
He is also well known for his stage career, most notably appearing alongside Poldark’s Aidan Turner in a revival of Martin McDonagh’s play The Lieutenant of Inishmore, which opened at the Noël Coward Theatre in London.
For his performance in the play, Walley was nominated for the Evening Standard Emerging Talent Award and was selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit.
Mairéad MacSweeney – Hilary Rose
Hilary Rose has reprised her role was Conor’s mother Mairéad MacSweeney in season three of The Young Offenders.
Rose is best known for her role as Mairéad, having played the role in the 2016 film and again in the series.
Viewers may also recognise her from her role was Maggie Brennan in The Centre and Janice Shaw in Sacrifice.
The Irish actress has appeared in numerous television series including Fair City, Apollo Music Club, The Tudors, Vikings and Beat Girl.
Sergeant Tony Healy – Dominic MacHale
Dominic MacHale plays Sergeant Tony Healy in The Young Offenders, a police officer hell-bent on catching Jock and Conor up to no good.
MacHale is best known for his theatre career with The Young Offenders film and series being his first major role.
His other credits include Fitzgibbon’s Budget Funerals, Ronanism and The School.

Linda Walsh – Demi Isaac Oviawe
Demi Isaac Oviawe portrays Linda Walsh in The Young Offenders.
Oviawe is a Nigerian-born Irish actress, best known for her role in The Young Offenders.
She is also well known in Ireland for appearing on the Irish edition of Dancing with the Stars in 2019.
Principal Barry Walsh – PJ Gallagher
PJ Gallagher returns as the stern Principal of St. Finan’s Community School, Principal Barry Walsh.
Gallagher is an Irish stand up comedian and actor from Dublin, Ireland.
He is best known for the hidden camera television show Naked Camera which aired between 2005 and 2007.
He is also well known for appearing on several episodes of the Podge and Rodge Show.
Gallagher’s other credits include Next Weeks News, Trojan Donkey, Celebrity Bainisteoir and Meet Your Neighbours.

Orla Walsh – Orla Fitzgerald
Orla Fitzgerald stars as Orla Walsh, the wife of Principal Barry Walsh.
Fitzgerald is an Irish actress, best known for her role as Sinéad Ní Shúilleabháin in the 2006 film The Wind That Shakes the Barley.
In The Wind That Shakes the Barley, she starred alongside Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy.
She is also well known for her stage career having appeared in productions of Macbeth, The Day I Swapped My Dad For Two Goldfish and Othello.
Other cast members include Chris Kent, Cora Fenton, Michael Sands, Shane Casey and Jennifer Barry.
