'The View': Cory Booker Fires Back at Meghan McCain in Explosive Gun Discussion

Meghan McCain is having quite an explosive week on The View and continues dominating headlines. Just a day after Whoopi Goldberg schooled her for interrupting her while she asked for respect, Cory Booker came in and clashed with the Republican supporter.

Why did Meghan McCain and Cory Booker clash?

The Democratic presidential hopeful was questioned by McCain over his support for gun buybacks relating him to Beto O’Rourke, who has advocated for it as a central issue of his campaign.

“When I heard you and Beto say that, to me, that’s like a left-wing fever dream,” McCain said. “And I want to know how you think you and Beto are going to go to red states and go to my brother’s house and get his AR-15s because, let me tell you, he’s not giving it back.”

Booker said he wasn’t on the same page as O’Rourke to which McCain replied, “Good because he’s crazy!”

“We should watch the way we talk about each other,” Booker fired back. “Seriously, we can’t tear the character of people down. We have different beliefs.”

“He has no problem doing it to me,” McCain added. “He was very nasty to me about this.”

Booker responded by saying, “But you and I both know when somebody does something to us doesn’t mean we show the same thing back to them.”

“I’m not running for president, with all due respect,” McCain shot back. “And the way he talks about me inciting violence on this, I take very seriously and I speak for a lot of red-state Americans whether he likes it or you like it or not, there’s a lot of Republicans you have to win over.”

As the two sparred back and forth, Whoopi Goldberg chimed in to send to a commercial break and said they would continue the discussion after.

“No, we’re not,” McCain said. “It’s fine.”

Meghan McCain often thinks about getting fired

It is outbursts like that, that probably makes McCain think she is going to get fired from The View. The ABC talk show is about five women coming together to discuss topics affecting the world and different points of view are welcomed. McCain’s passion for standing up for what she believes in is probably what has her walking on eggshells.

“I go in assuming I’m going to be fired every day,” she recently said on Watch What Happens Live. “Every single day. Yes, every day.”

When the show’s host asked her if she has ever been closed to getting axed from the daytime show, she explained her reasoning behind her thoughts.

“It’s more the tone we are [at] culturally, people get canceled so easily,” she explained. “And by the way, Joy has this same thing, because we are the most honest and raw. And we’re always going to say something that is going to be too far one way. So I say it sort of jokingly, but sort of not.”

As the political season heats up the tension at the “Hot Topics” table is sure to rise. McCain has snapped at most of her co-hosts in the last couple of months and she doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
