The One Show cancelled: BBC show taken off air in schedule shake-up

The One Show has been taken off the BBC One schedule this evening and fans are going to have to wait until Monday for their next instalment. It comes as the British Academy Television Awards is being held instead and coverage will be shown instead. 

The One Show, which is hosted by Alex Jones and a series of guest presenters will not air this evening. 

Alex turned to Michael Ball who has co-hosted this week’s shows last night and said “Thank you so much for this week!” 

“I have loved it so much!” The singer replied. 

“It’s over, were not on air tomorrow, but we will be back on Monday,” she continued. 

“Have a great weekend everybody, bye!” Alex signed off. 

So why is The One Show not airing tonight? 

It comes as the channel experiences a schedule shake-up which will see it taken off air. 

Instead, the BAFTA’s are going to be broadcaste

The ceremony – which should’ve been held in May – will celebrate the best of both British and International talent in front and behind the camera. 

BBC One viewers will see it hosted by Richard Ayoade. 

In accordance with current restrictions, the ceremony will take place as a closed studio. 

And the nominees invited will accept their awards virtually.

As for whose names are in the hat, nominees include Mo Gilligan, Pheobe Waller-Bridge and Guz Khan. 

Jodie Comer, Stephen Graham, Suranne Jones, Ncuti Gatwa and Lee Mack have also been mentioned. 

It comes after a jam-packed series of shows this week. 

From Alex changing her appearance last night, to Michael causing a guest to storm off. 

Next week, someone else will sit oppositive Alex. 

Rylan Clark-Neal was presenting a few weeks ago, or maybe it is the turn of Alex Scott. 

Someone else who has appeared is Gethin Jones. 

The One Show is back on Monday at 7pm on BBC One.
