The One Show: ‘Can you turn that off’ Alex Jones yells after phone goes off TWICE in live

The One Show returned to BBC last night with an hour long show hosted by Alex Jones and Matt Baker.

Joining them on the green sofa was comedian Frank Skinner who spoke about his journey into the industry until he was interrupted by Alex for a telephone ringing.

“You were a lecturer weren’t you?” Alex quizzed and he replied: “I was a college lecturer and a way of making a little extra money was to do a comedy workshop.

“I just started doing it, so it was like the partially sighted leading the blind. But they used to come and do their act and I used to criticise it and all talk about it. It was great and on the last night of term -“

A phone was then heard ringing in the background and Alex commented: “Who’s got a phone on?”

Frank couldn’t help himself but make a joke out of the situation and remarked: “I loved that! I though the Strictly [Come Dancing] dancers were all going to come on in! I’d built my hopes up!”

Whilst the live audience laughed, and Frank then continued with his story, the phone rang out again.

“It’s happening again,” Matt commented and Alex interjected: “Can you turn that off?”

“I think it’s my agent trying to get me off,” Frank added before answering Matt’s question.

Also on the show were several of the Strictly professionals after they danced an opening number.

They were there to discuss the news that the professionals would be going on their own tour, without any celebrity partners.

Introducing them, Matt was quick to jump in and comment about the previous famous faces who had taken part in the show.

He said: “Yes no celebrity partners to lower the standards.”

Alex hit back: “Speak for yourself!”

Strictly fans will remember how both Matt and Alex took part in the dancing competition back in 2010 and 2011.

The Countryfile presenter came second in his series whilst Alex finished fifth with James Jordan.

All of the Strictly professionals burst out laughing and both clearly seeing the funny side, Alex and Matt then carried on with the show.

As for what fans can expect of the new tour format, Giovanni Pernice answered.

He said: “Well it’s a completely new show, a routine that you never seen before on Strictly come dancing, actually more than 50 dances we’re going to do.

“It’s the first time that all of us are dancing together so it’s a quite powerful group and we’re really excited.”

The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
