The Office show boss rules out cast reunion and brands potential reboot ‘weird and difficult’
THE Office show boss has ruled out a cast reunion and branded a potential reboot as 'weird and difficult’.
The American version of the Ricky Gervais sitcom ran for nine seasons from 2005 until 2013, with Greg Daniels at the helm.
The series starred Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling and Ed Helms among others, and fans have been desperate to see them reunite ever since the show ended.
But Greg has now revealed why a full reunion or reboot won't happen any time soon.
He told Digital Spy: "I think this question came up when the cast of Will & Grace reunited, but there's only four of them, and the people involved with The Office are all doing so many different things.
"So to be able to reassemble them, I think, in that kind of fashion is much more difficult.
"I think if anything, there might be some sort of new show that just had a couple of people in it.
"I don't think it would be great to redo it again with 60% of the cast or something. I think that would be a bit weird."
Indeed, many of the cast members have extremely busy schedules, with Steve, 57, reuniting with Greg for new Netflix comedy Space Force.
Meanwhile John, 40, has moved into directing with A Quiet Place and its sequel as well as starring in Amazon Prime's Jack Ryan series.
And it was recently confirmed Mindy, 40, would be writing the script for Legally Blonde 3 starring Reese Witherspoon once more.
Earlier this month, the cast reunited to attend a superfan's wedding while John served as officiant and best man.
Jenna Fisher also tuned in and served as the bride's maid of honor.
