The Chase: Stars lose whopping £61,000 and fans are not happy

Bradley Walsh was joined by a host of celebrities on a special edition of The Chase this evening. The ITV host watched on as the hopeful quizzers took on Chaser Mark Labbett in bid to win a huge £61,000 prize for their respective charities. However despite an impressive performance throughout the show, the team faced a tough final chase against a Chaser who had barely put a foot wrong.

Rory Bremner, Laura Tobin, Deborah Meden and Alan Titchmarsh took on Mark this evening with the help of host Bradley.

The first celebrity to take on the Chaser, Rory, earned a disappointing £3,000 in the cash builder round but decided to take a risk and opted for the higher offer.

However he was comfortably beaten by Mark leaving it up to the rest of the team to build up the jackpot.

Taking her own advice, Laura played for £50,000 and managed to beat the Chaser to add the huge sum to the prize fund.

Dragons Den favourite Deborah was next up to face Mark after earning an impressive £8,000.

Despite pleas from her team to go high she stuck with the money she’d earned and secured her spot in the Final Chase.

The final contestant, Alan, was again advised to go high but instead he took the low offer of £3,000 before rejoining his team.

All three contestants had performed well in their individual rounds but disaster struck in the Final Chase.

Unfortunately the team’s luck ran out and they all struggled to answer Bradley’s questions.

During the final chase, Laura, Deborah and Alan only managed to answer 13 questions correctly.

Commenting on their performance, Mark said: “Unlucky there you never really got going.”

Meanwhile the Chaser continued his impressive streak and fired off correct answers to beat the team with over a minute to spare.

He only gave the team one opportunity to push back which they failed to execute.

Bradley explained at the speed Mark answered questions correctly “we would have needed a target of 24, 25“.

Offering his commiserations to the team Mark remarked: “You missed three or four on another you would have got, unlucky.”

Viewers watching the celebrities’ performance took to Twitter to comment.
