The Big Bang Theory: Fans spot huge season 1 plot hole which changes all 12 seasons

The Big Bang Theory viewers will remember Raj Koothrappali (played by Kunal Nayyar) spent a large chunk of his time on the show looking for a girl to date. Even back in season one, Raj struggled to meet people – until he met up with a long-lost friend Lalita Gupta (Sarayu Blue). This meeting left the two wondering if they would get together, as their parents had arranged for them to meet up once again.

Unfortunately for Raj, he went on to ruin the meeting by allowed Penny (Kaley Cuoco) to get him a little drunk and embarrassing himself.

This is because he could not speak to women unless he was intoxicated.

Later in the episode Raj could be seen talking to Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) about the interaction.

He then complained to his friend the arranged marriage would not work for him.

Raj whined: “Great. Then we’ll get married, I won’t be able to talk to her and we’ll spend the rest of our lives in total silence.”

Howard was then eager to jump in and make a joke – as he is wont to do – by comparing the situation to his own parents.

He cackled: “It worked for my parents.”

But fans on Reddit have now realised that, in a much later episode, Howard revealed his dad left the family when he was a young boy.

Therefore this statement isn’t true, leaving viewers a little confused.

But viewers on Reddit quickly began dismissing this apparent plot hole as a throwaway joke.

Other fans explained, because the show is so long, misquotes are to be expected from the early seasons as they are retconned.

Luckily, fans were left pleased earlier this week when Howard star Simon was announced to be moving on to a new adventure.

Meanwhile Adam will be playing a stand-up comedian, while Marion takes on the role of an opera singer.

The show is already filming in Belgium, so viewers won’t have to wait long for the return of the actor.

Unfortunately for fans, until then, they will continue to look for plot holes in The Big Bang Theory.

The Big Bang Theory season 12 is available on Netflix.
