The Bay on ITV: ‘It was horrid’ Morven Christie reveals emotional ending for Lisa

The Bay saw a harrowing kidnapping case unfold last week as two twins disappeared.

It was down to Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong (played by Morven Christie) to piece together what happened to them.

However, she was far too embroiled in the case after accidentally sleeping with the prime suspect, Jonas Armstrong (Sean Meredith).

And as the story unfolds, it seems there’s going to be a lot more drama in store for Lisa and her police team.

According to lead actress Morven, the highly-anticipated ending will only leave destruction in its path.

Lisa has been lying to her best friend and boss, Detective Inspector Tony Manning (Daniel Ryan), but how will he react when he finds out?

Express.co.uk and other press spoke to Morven about her character’s journey at the recent launch of The Bay where she hinted at emotional scenes.

She explained: “I think as the episodes unfold you get to really understand the history they have.

“When these things they’ve been burying come to the surface, it’s really personally hurtful as well as professionally unacceptable.

“It’s devastating. When we read the episode where that stuff happens, when we did the read-through, it was really emotional.

“It was horrid. They know each other’s families and lying to him is personal, so year, that’s her major male relationship in the show.”

Daniel also spoke about how their relationship will develop, adding: “Once you kind of make that betrayal, how do you then get out of it?

“The more time goes on, the absolutely worse it is that she hasn’t said anything.

“I think that can then push you into making more mistakes, distancing her relationship with the people who are in absolute trust of her.

“She’s been nothing but a good cop and she’s fallible.”

Dan went on to explain how this could potentially be the first mistake Lisa has ever made on the job.

However, the nature of The Bay means that one issue causes a whole lot more.

“She’s messing up more and more and we see the debt to her kids, he revealed.

Dan concluded: “It’s more of a cop show, this. The crime is integral but it runs side-by-side with how do we all get by every day.”

The Bay continues tonight on ITV at 9pm.
