'The Bachelorette' Star Tayshia Adams Confesses That Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes' Breakup Made Her 'Really Sad'

The success rate of couples from the world of The Bachelor just got a little bit lower, unfortunately. Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes were not meant to be, after all. Fans of The Bachelorette were shocked when Katie and Blake abruptly announced their breakup on Instagram, which came only a few months after their engagement aired on television. But, according to Tayshia Adams, no one was more surprised than her.

Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes announced their breakup a few months after ‘The Bachelorette’ finale

In The Bachelorette Season 17, Blake Moynes did not join the competition for Katie Thurston’s heart until week 3. Blake, a contestant on Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette, risked everything to join the show and get to know Katie. And since she felt an attraction toward him, she let him join the cast.

Katie, who was just broken up with by Greg Grippo, sent Justin Glaze home and gave Blake her final rose in the finale. He then proposed to her, and she said yes. It was a happy ending for Katie and Blake in The Bachelorette Season 17. Unfortunately, though, that happily ever after only lasted a few months.

On Oct. 25, Katie and Blake announced their breakup on their respective Instagram pages only a few months after The Bachelorette finale. Both Katie’s and Blake’s captions read, “It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate ways.”

They continued, “We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently. We ask for kindness and privacy as we both navigate this transition. Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision.”

Tayshia Adams was shocked by the breakup news

Per Us Weekly, on Oct. 27, Tayshia Adams, who was the co-host during Katie’s The Bachelorette season, appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. During the show, Cohen asked her about her reaction to the news of Katie and Blake’s breakup since she was by Katie’s side throughout her journey.

Tayshia said, “Oh, my gosh, it actually made me really sad. No, I did not see it coming. I truthfully thought that they were meant for each other and thought they complimented each other quite well. It made me really sad.”

On a more positive note, Tayshia, star of The Bachelorette Season 16, is happily engaged to Zac Clark. She told Cohen, “I’m doing pretty well. I’m not sure [when we will get married]. I just got done from filming not too long ago. I’m finally back in the city. I’m training for a marathon. I’ve got a lot on my plate. We’ll see.”

Katie and Blake still talk to one another despite their broken engagement

In an Instagram video that the former The Bachelorette star posted after her breakup with Blake, Katie addressed what went down between her and her ex-fiancé.

Katie said, “We were together for six months. Blake and I are very level-headed and mature, and we communicate very well on our thoughts. And we just both knew if this was how our first six months was as a couple going forward, it was going to not be in our best interest for our happiness to stay together. And so we, as mentioned, mutually decided to part our ways. But we still stay in touch. We still support each other. Nothing but love and respect truly.”
