The Apprentice’s second fired candidate Conor Gilsenan has joked that the boys ‘were hypnotised to only see green and brown’ following another huge blunder in tonight’s toothbrush task.
The latest instalment of the hit BBC series saw Lord Alan Sugar asking the girls and boys to create their own range of children’s toothbrushes, as well as an app to encourage kids to brush their teeth.
However, it didn't go to plan for Conor and co from the very beginning of the task. After last week’s epic logo fail, the boys once again opted for a green and brown colour scheme for their toothbrush – a bizarre decision that didn’t go unnoticed with Lord Sugar, his aides or viewers watching at home.
When they failed to secure any orders or impress the experts, the boys were brought back into the boardroom and former rugby player turned budding businessman Conor was eventually sent home.
Breaking his silence on his early exit, Conor, who was the sub-team leader for the task, exclusively told OK! that he suspected that his team were in trouble during filming for the second episode.
The 28 year old, who helped to create a character called Wiffy for their app which left Lord Sugar lukewarm, revealed: “I remember after we’d created the character, the producers were asking us questions.”
“They said, ‘And what about the name Wiffy?’ I thought, ‘I can see where this is going.’ And they also asked me about the colour of the toothbrush…”
Conor went on to poke fun at the boys’ obsession with green and brown, joking, “I honestly feel like they might have hypnotised all the boys so that green and brown were the colours of the process.”
“It’s unbelievable. When you look back at it now you think, ‘How can that happen?!’”
He then added: “One thing I will stand up for is that I had nothing to do with either decision!”
But despite his premature exit from the competition, Conor says he’s happy with his time on the show, as well as how he was portrayed.
The show’s star explained: “When I watched it back, I thought it was a fair reflection.”
“I don’t think I lost any credibility doing the show, which was a concern, as you can come across as maybe not how you’d like to be portrayed, but I don’t think that happened.”

He also defended his co-stars for their decisions in the tasks, adding: “I think it’s easy for people to slate everyone and say they have no business acumen.”
“But if you throw sixteen people together and give them a day or two days to achieve an objective in something they’ve never done before, of course it’s going to be chaotic.”
