Tessa Thompson ended 2020 with a bang.

The Sylvie's Love star, 37, told Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday that she got in a car accident with a "big monster truck" while traveling to a cabin to celebrate New Year's Eve last week.

"I drove up a mountain to go to a cabin, and I thought, 'This will be totally safe because I won't see anybody,' " she said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "But I got into a car accident, so I did have a socially distanced interaction."

Thompson said the accident happened on the highway, but "I'm safe, obviously, and actually, the driver was very lovely in the end."

"After this year I feel such gratitude for being alive. It was sort of the sweetest, loveliest accident of all the ones I've had in a way," Thompson continued. "But also it made total sense: It's the only way to end this year would be to get into a car accident."

The Westworld actress, who heads to Australia Monday to film Thor 4, joked that growing up in Los Angeles made her accustom to issues on the road.

"I feel like I'm so used to car accidents because I was born and raised in Los Angeles, so it feels like accidents are my birthright," she said. "I've had many of them. But this was a pleasant one."

Kimmel, 53, joked that the New Year's Eve accident sounded like "the beginning of a romantic film."

But Thompson clarified, "We didn't exchange numbers, we just exchanged insurance information. And everyone's okay."
