Strictly's Maisie Smith looks stunning in first picture with Kai Widdrington after replacing AJ Odudu

STRICTLY'S Maisie Smith looks incredible in her first picture with Kai Widdrington after replacing AJ Odudu in the upcoming show arena tour.

The former EastEnders star, 20, placed second in eighteenth series of the BBC competition last year.

Now Maisie has landed herself a role in the Strictly tour which starts later this month.

Earlier today the actress shared a snap of her with new dance partner Kai on her Instagram Story.

Maisie looked stunning in a gold sequin tassel dress, while Kai rocked some smart trousers and a black and gold striped shirt.

The star captioned the post: "Let's go cut some shapes @kaiwidd."

On Thursday Maisie shared the news on social media.

She told her 1m followers: "So excited to be a part of the @bbcstrictly team again on this years arena tour – dancing with the wonderful @kaiwidd 💃🏻I wish @ajodudu a speedy recovery 🙏🏼❤️."

Many rushed to the comments section to congratulate Maisie on her new role.

Her former dance partner Gorka Marquez wrote: "You are gonna amazing!!! And you’re in good hands with @kaiwidd 👏 CAN’T WAIT To watch you partner!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻."

Strictly 2022 winner and EastEnders co-star Rose Ayling-Ellis added: "Maisie!!! Im so excited to be on tour with you!!!!"

Aj replied: "Thank you @maisiesmithofficial. You're gonna have the best time with Kai. ✨❤️."

After the news broke, Maisie said: ”I’m thrilled to be asked to restart my Strictly journey on this year’s arena tour.

"Kai and I will be dancing the Quickstep and the Samba – I can’t wait for rehearsals to start next week. It will be a joy to dance with everyone and so great to see my EastEnders friend Rose again. I wish AJ a speedy recovery.”

While a gutted AJ said: “I’m devastated not to be able to take part in the Strictly tour due to injury.

"I had hoped for one last dance with Kai, but I must obviously follow the medical advice. I wish my Strictly family the very best of luck on the road and I’ll definitely be there to cheer them on."

It's been painful end to AJ's Strictly journey after ligament damage forced her out of the final with just a day's notice.

When AJ and Kai weren't wowing on the dance floor they were setting tongues wagging with their electric chemistry.

Viewers were desperate for them to become an item and even AJ's young nephew asked why they hadn't kissed.

Maisie took part in the BBC dance show last year alongside Gorka Marquez.

She recently said goodbye to her role as Tiffany Butcher on EastEnders after 13 years.

Maisie and Kai will join Strictly 2021 winners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice on tour.

Sara Davies and Aljaž Skorjanec, Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin, Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu, John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, and Max George and Katya Jones will also be taking part.
