Strictly’s Craig Revel Horwood announces huge show shake-up

Strictly Come Dancing legend Craig Revel Horwood announced the upcoming series will see a big change in format, revealing that contestants will now dance with judges.

Speaking on This Morning, Craig gave some insight into what fans can expect from Strictly’s 17th series, which is coming this September.

The 54-year-old said: “This year is going to be very interesting. Like Australia, they’re taking a leaf out of Australia’s book, and of course Dancing with the Stars in America, the judges will be dancing.”

He added: “I don’t know that Shirley Ballas knows that yet, but she will. Scoop! We’ll dance with the contestants. You put yourself on the line, so to speak.”

Craig didn’t seem to be too phased by the new shake-up, after he explained that he “loved it” In Australia on their version of the show, saying: “I did it in Australia and I absolutely loved it there… I danced with Courtney Act, which was absolutely fantastic.”

He then explained what it was like to be judged himself: “It was brilliant to come into the room to choreograph and to actually create an entire scenario and star in it yourself.

“And then be judged, that’s sort of the big thing… And I’m up, as most people know, for absolutely anything.”

Craig has been on Strictly Come Dancing since its debut in 2004 and is well known for his flamboyant judging.

“Any of the ex-dancers would be fantastic, but I don’t know is the honest truth. They won’t tell me because my gob’s too big!”

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return this September.

This Morning continues tomorrow at 10:30am on ITV.
