Strictly’s Amanda Abbington’s fiancé snubs Giovanni Pernice as feud rumours grow

The fiancé of Strictly star Amanda Abbington has fuelled rumours of a feud between Amanda and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice.

Former escapologist Jonathan Goodwin appears to have snubbed Gio as he does not follow the BBC star on Instagram, despite following other Strictly pros on the social media platform. He currently follows Gorka Marquez, who is partnered with radio presenter Nikita Kanda, as well as Johannes Radebe, who is dancing with tennis legend Annabel Croft.

It comes after rumours emerged that Amanda, 49, was clashing with Giovanni, 33, behind the scenes of the BBC dancing show, which kicked off last weekend. According to The Sun, the actress didn't like Gio's "militant and aggressive" training style.

Sources claimed the Sherlock star was "ready to quit" the show altogether, but the pair seemed to put the feud rumours to bed when they appeared on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two. Host Janette Manrara asked them: "It honestly looks like you two are having the best time in rehearsals, getting along like a house on fire in rehearsals right?"

Amanda insisted she was "having a great time" with the Italian hunk and that they laugh a lot behind the scenes. Gio agreed but admitted there were tough times, adding: "We do have a good time. But at the same time it’s a difficult process. Especially for people who have never done Strictly before. I always say it’s a marathon not a sprint.

"The first few weeks, it is difficult. It’s a lot of hours to train, it’s a lot of hours you have to concentrate". Amanda seemed to slam the rumours again in a swear-filled video, where she said: "Ignoring the bulls***, because clearly people are t****.”

She added: "Just stop it, stop it, grow up. No one gives a s***. Shut up, it’s b****cks, so f*** off. You know who I’m talking to as well. Come on, jog on, it’s nonsense and you know it’s nonsense. It’s all good."

Gio praised Amanda when he told his followers that he was "proud" of his work with the actress. And Jonathan was quick to share his delight when Gio and his wife-to-be bagged 29 points for their Viennese Waltz to 'Pointless' by Lewis Capaldi last weekend.

"Words can’t really express how proud I am of Amanda," he wrote. "She is just extraordinary. So beautiful. I know the amount of work this dance took and I’m so so unbelievably proud."
