Strictly winner Rose Ayling-Ellis reveals she has returned to EastEnders filming

Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis has revealed that she has returned to EastEnders filming.

The actress, 27, who plays Frankie Lewis on the BBC One soap, appeared on Tuesday's episode of This Morning with pro dancer Giovanni Pernice where they spoke about winning Strictly in December.

Host Phillip Schofield then asked Rose about EastEnders and whether she had returned to her filming duties yet.

To which the actress, who is the first deaf contestant to take part in Strictly, revealed: "Yes, my first day back was yesterday!"

Asked how it was returning following her Strictly win in December, Rose said: "It was good fun, it was weird to be back."

She added: "Everyone was so excited to see me again. Back in The Vic, it was really lovely."

The interview comes after Giovanni and Rose had a sweet reunion meal on Saturday at Gola restaurant in London.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, EastEnders released first look images at the new Albert Square with filming already starting on the set on the 11 January.

The new updated set, which still includes Walford's favourites the Queen Vic pub, market stalls and iconic houses, replaces the former set which was built in 1984.

The former Albert Square only had the intention of being used for two years and is "no longer fit for purpose" with the new set providing more creativity for the BBC One soap's production team.

EastEnders' updated set will also enable improved HD for BBC One audiences and enhanced filming options for the cast and crew, including the option to explore new areas on screen.

It comes as EastEnders teased "plenty of explosive drama" for Danny Dyer 's character Mick Carter ahead of his exit on the BBC One soap

"Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character which we shall always be grateful for, however we won’t be saying goodbye just yet as there’s still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick – to come before he departs Walford."

Elsewhere, a source told OK! that due to Danny giving plenty of notice it has given bosses time to plan a "huge storyline" with Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter, set to return "very soon".

EastEnders continues on BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
