Max, 32, will make his debut on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night, hoping to follow in the footsteps of his fellow The Wanted band member, Jay McGuiness, 30, who won the show in 2015. During the launch show this weekend, the singer will discover which professional dancer he will be paired with ahead of his first judged performance in two weeks time. However, it seems he might not see eye-to-eye with one member of the BBC panel as the competitor has explained he could clash with Craig Revel Horwood, 55.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other publications, the contestant explained how he will react to the judge’s scores.

“Anything six and above, I’ll be buzzing and anything below that I’ll be like, alright, I’ve got some serious work to do,” Max said.

“But they are there to help, aren’t they? So I think I’ll be alright with it,” the singer continued, before offering his opinion on the outspoken judge.

“I think Craig can be a bit harsh sometimes so I might give him a little bit back,” he teased of a clash with the dance critic.

Despite one of his band member’s winning the show and Craig watching his every move, The Wanted star doesn’t feel any pressure at all.

“Jay was always a top dancer even when we started the band,” Max explained before recalling the limited dance experience he’s always had despite being in a boy group.

“I remember in the audition process for the band I nearly didn’t get in because of dancing. That’s been a problem for me for over a decade.

“Jay was always the one that if we ever did any staging or movement, he’d always choreograph that. In terms of that, I wouldn’t say it’s pressure.

“I always looked up to Jay in that sense so I won’t be comparing myself. If [the judges] give me any tips, then great.”

The singer admitted he’s also ready to put his sole focus into training to dance, adding he “doesn’t really have anything else to do.”

It seems Max may be vying for the Glitterball Trophy to continue the success of The Wanted stars taking part in the show.

According to a recent poll conducted by RadioTimes.com, his fellow band member Jay is the greatest champion of all time.

With 37 percent of the votes, the former pop star was the favourite amongst the 5,000 members of the public who took part.

According to the latest odds from the bookmakers, Max is one of the front runners to claim victory when the series concludes in December.

Coral bookmakers currently have the singer at 5/1 to win, putting him just behind soap star Maisie Smith, 19, who leads the way at 2/1.

However, The Wanted star has stiff competition as chart-topper HRVY is matching his chances of taking the Glitterball Trophy.

Spokesperson John Hill said: “Maisie Smith is one of the shortest price favourites we have ever had on Strictly ahead of the launch of a series.”

“It could be one of the strongest years in history with Max George and HRVY both at the top end of the betting to lift the Glitterball Trophy,” he continued.

Max and HRVY’s hottest competition appears to be Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing, 31, who is making his comeback after pulling out of the competition before it even started last year.

The comeback king is at 7/1 to claim victory, with Olympic boxer Nicola Adams, 37, not too far behind at 8/1.

On the other end of the spectrum, comedian Bill Bailey, 55, and former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, 57, look set to be eliminated first as their chances of winning currently stand at 50/1.

Strictly Come Dancing 2020 begins Saturday at 7:50pm on BBC One.
