Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Will Bayley QUITS after knee injury ‘I’m gutted’

Last week, Strictly Come Dancing star Willy Bayley was forced to pull out at the last minute after he had a knee injury. He was given a pass to this weekend so he would have time to recover. However, it’s now been announced he will be leaving the show.

The news was announced on the official Strictly Come Dancing Twitter this evening.

Speaking of the decision, Will said: “I’m gutted my Strictly journey has had to come to an end.

“I’ve loved being part of the show, and am so grateful for the phenomenal support we have received.

“I want to say a special thank you to Janette for believing in me, and giving me the confidence to believe in myself.

“The things we achieved, from our couple’s choice dance, through to the lifts in our salsa, will stay with me forever.”

The paralympian added: “I’ve had the time of my life.”

Will’s professional dance partner Janette Manrara also commented on his exit.

She remarked: “Absolutely devastated that Will and I will not be able to continue dancing.

“We made some incredible memories that I will never forget, and I am pleased to have shared them with such an inspirational person who I can now call a friend for life.”

Executive Producer, Sarah James said: “We are so sad that Will is unable to continue on the show.

“He is an incredible and talented person who has brought us some unforgettable moments this series – in particular his powerful and moving couples choice routine.

“He will be greatly missed and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

 

Following the news, Strictly fans were quick to comment.

“I’m so sorry for will! I hope he recovers soon!!” one fans shared.

Another added: “Absolutely gutted for Will he’s been amazing, he’s achieved so many things that he should be proud of himself for, Janette she brought the best out in him every week that couples choice routine brought so many people to tears it was a beautifully told story, so sad to see him go.”

A third continued: “so much love for you both. you have to do what’s best for you but you should be so so proud of everything you’ve managed to achieve. heartbroken for you.”

It is not yet known if Will will be replaced or if there will simply be no public vote this weekend.

Some fans were quick to call for Catherine Tyldesley to return after she was booted off on Sunday night.

“Bring Catherine back to take his place,” one viewer said on Twitter.

Will and Janette will both appear on It Takes Two this evening.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 7pm.
