Strictly Come Dancing 2019: ‘So overmarked’ Mike Bushell’s Charleston leaves fans fuming
The final pair to take to the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor yesterday evening was Mike Bushell and Katya Jones. The pair received 30 points from the judges from their routine but viewers were in uproar over their marks with many feeling the judges had been too generous.
Mike and Katya are hoping to avoid the dreaded dance-off once more this evening and they certainly seem to be safe after scoring 30 points.
The pair placed sixth on the leaderboard with Emma Weymouth, Emma Barton and Saffron Barker all below them on the leaderboard.
However, those tuning into the show yesterday evening were far from impressed with Mike and Katya and their scores.
Taking to Twitter to comment, viewers claimed Mike was “overmarked” compared to their peers.

“Mike and Katya got more than Emma and Anton? #Strictly,” a third shared.
Someone else tweeted: “The judges are definitely trying to keep Mike in the show. No way was that a 30 #strictly.”
A fifth added: “Mike gets an 8 whilst Emma B. gets a 5. Bye #Strictly.”
“I’m sorry but Mike was dreadful and so overmarked,” another wrote.
“The scoring is all over the place and actually spoiling the show this year. I’m amazed how polite Emma B is to that so called head judge. #Strictly.”

Commenting on their Rumba, Shirley began: “The only timing I could read was the basic, the alemana and the sliding doors – three bars of Rumba.
“The rest of it, I have no idea on what count you were dancing this dance.
“Hang on a minute, there are four beats, there are three steps. You have to understand that.”
Anton hit back: “Sometimes there are four steps and three beats. Sometimes there are five steps and seven beats. Sometimes there are no steps.”

But Shirley ignored his comments and continued to critique the couple as Emma looked close to tears hearing the feedback.
Following last night’s performance, bookmakers believe Emma Weymouth will be booted out of the competition next.
Mike is evens to be eliminated while Emma’s odds have been cut to 4/5 to be shown the door.
Emma’s Samba failed to impress the judges with the panel noting it lacked “bounce” and energy.
Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “Emma has been an incredibly popular bet all week with punters.
“Mike’s dad dancing clearly resonates with viewers and he may well survive again if the money for the Viscountess is on the nose.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight on BBC One at 7.15pm.
