Strictly 2019: Karim Zeroual reveals real reason behind tearful reaction to comments

The Strictly Come Dancing star joined BBC host Dan Walker and Louis Minchin on BBC Breakfast along with his professional dance partner Amy Dowden. The CBeebies presenter revealed the real reason behind his tearful reaction to the judges’ comments.

There are high expectations for Karim on the BBC show since he wowed fans from day one of his performance.

The amateur dancer has achieved high scores consistently with his dancing abilities and impressed the judges as well as viewers at home.

However, he fought tears last week after he received harsh comments from the judges and a score of 30 which hasn’t been his lowest on the series.

Joining the BBC hosts this morning, he shared his thoughts after Dan made a remark about him crying.

  • Jacqueline Jossa: Who is I’m a Celebrity 2019 Jacqueline Jossa?

“I’m quite a perfectionist. I’m hard on myself. This is the 8th or 9th week. I don’t know anymore and it’s just taken over my life.

“I was just so frustrated and mistakes are just not what I want to happen so just to get a foot out of place was bad,” the star explained.

Dan pressed to know either the tears were a result of letting himself down or Amy.

Karim responded: “A bit of both really. It’s not all about the scores and comments. You’ve worked so hard building up to this amazing performance.”

His dance partner Amy added: “I could just see when we finished the dance and I was in the lighthouse and I could just see his eyes filling with tears.”

Karim interjected that “it feels a lot worse than it looks” as he watched the performance back and thought it didn’t look too bad.

“It’s just when you stand on each other’s feet, you’re just a little bit like,” he signed.

The pair have secured a place in Blackpool which will be seen live from Saturday.

They will get another chance to earn high scores as they will get to perform the Charleston to Happy.

Karim desperately wanted to achieve Blackpool and thought he may not make it after his performance last week but luckily, he got through.

The unlucky pair who will not see to Blackpool are Mike Bushell and Katya Jones.

Time was up for Mike after he appeared on the bottom two for a fourth time last week and shockingly went up against Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice.

The judges saved Michelle and Giovanni which sent Mike and Katya packing home after they failed to impress the judges with their Paso Doble.

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
