Spoilers: Ken makes a huge decision ahead of Corrie exit
It’s not easy having a parent and having to stay neutral between your two bickering children but with both Tracy and Peter Barlow (Kate Ford and Chris Gascoyne) wanting to buy No.1 Coronation Street, Ken (William Roache) is in a bit of a pickle.
Ken recently announced that he was selling up and heading to a luxury retirement village with Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) and he has given his offspring first refusal on buying the house. Initially, both Tracy and Peter scoffed at the very idea of Coronation Street without Ken – as did we. However, he soon proves that he is taking this very seriously – as a For Sale goes up outside the truth.
Tracy makes it clear to Steve (Simon Gregson) that she wants them to buy the house and she and Peter are at loggerheads.
As Tracy tries to get a bargain from Ken, Peter tells Ken that he shouldn’t let her walk all over him and manipulate the situation to her advantage. With Tracy offering far less than the asking price, Peter tells Ken he is willing to pay the full market value and he takes delight in smugly breaking the news to an affronted Tracy.
Not willing to be outdone, Tracy snaps back that she and Steve will match the offer – which leaves Ken in the impossible dilemma of choosing between them. Tracy is so convinced that she will win the bidding war that she starts measuring the place up and when Carla Connor (Alison King) admits to Peter that she isn’t all that keen on the house, it seems he may back out.
Peter heads over to concede to Tracy but when she winds him up, he changes his mind and it’s war again! With Ken still undecided, Tracy tries to persuade Steve to up their offer once again so that they can trump Peter.
Later, as Carla arrives at the flower shop and is distracted by a call from Peter, Tracy clocks an envelope with her and Peter’s sealed bid for the house and takes a peek. As everyone gathers at No.1 Adam (Sam Robertson) opens the sealed bids – will Tracy use her knowledge to her advantage or has Carla played her at her own game?
