So, Will We Be Getting Another Season of Bling Empire?

One of Netflix’s new reality offerings is Bling Empire, which follows the lives of wealthy Asian and Asian-American socialites in Los Angeles. And when we say wealthy, we mean “my family manufactures and distributes weapons” and “my husband is technically in the royal family” wealthy. In this elite circle, couture gowns are regularly worn, over-the-top parties are a frequent occurrence, and even infants wear designer clothes.

For those of us following along from our non-mansions, the new series may be either a hate-watch or much-needed escape, but it’s definitely hit. The show ended up on Netflix’s Top 10 list shortly after premiering on January 15. Will the streaming platform renew the show after striking gold?

Bling Empire hasn’t been renewed yet.

That’s the obvious—but unfulfilling—answer so far. Netflix hasn’t announced Bling Empire‘s renewal, but that doesn’t mean all hope is lost. Another popular reality show on the streamer (that isn’t a dating-competition program), Selling Sunset, wasn’t officially renewed for Season 2 until a year after it premiered.

However, producer Jeff Jenkins, who also produced Keeping Up with the Kardashians, sees a bright future ahead for Bling Empire. He told Town & Country, “We just celebrated 14 years of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. I would love to take this cast even further.” He added that “so much” has happened to the cast since the first season was filmed, which means there’s more ground to cover come next season.

But the cast already has plenty of ideas for what’s next.

Some cast members are hoping to travel for Season 2, though it’s unclear how that’ll happen amid the pandemic. Still, stars like Kevin Kreider and Kane Kim are dreaming big. “I’d like to go to South Korea!” Kreider told Entertainment Tonight. He added that he would want to trek with the cast, not just go on a solo trip to find his birth parents.

“Personally, I think traveling is going to be a huge thing,” Kane Kim told ET. “You know, we tried to travel for the first season, but obviously with time constraints and stuff like that, we couldn’t. I would actually like to fly the whole cast to Singapore show them what Singapore truly is.”

“I would love for us to explore and see [everyone’s hometown] or where they grew up,” Kelly Mi Li added.

Mi Li would like the potential next season to focus on her business instead of just her love life. “We filmed a little bit of my office and my staff, but I think the majority of that did get cut out. I would love to showcase that more,” she told Refinery29.

Christine Chiu also teased that she has more secrets to reveal if the show continues. “If you thought I dropped a big bomb in season 1, then you have no idea,” she told OprahMag.com, hinting that the reveal would be “timely in our climate.”
