Sister of Anna Nicole Smith's dead ex claims 'police have launched a manhunt' and she's been 'sobbing like a baby'

The family of Anna Nicole Smith's ex, who was fatally shot last week, claim police have launched a manhunt for his alleged killer, The Sun can exclusively reveal.

Mark Hatten, known by those close to him as 'Hollywood', was arrested and spent the night in jail on a trespass charge the day before he was killed in Greelyville South Carolina on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, his heartbroken sister Jackie claims she has been told details of his tragic death – but has been silenced while the investigation is ongoing.

Asked if police have found who shot Mark, she said: "No, they are trying to locate them. We know who it is, but I can't put any information out right now.

"He did not deserve this, no one deserves this, no matter what. When you hear it all you're going to be sick to your stomach. When I heard it I threw up, literally, I was hurling.

"I was sobbing like a baby and howling like a wolf, but I can’t tell you what it is until I get the green light."

The Sun has reached out to the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office, who failed to return calls.

Jackie, a model and musician who was best friends with Playboy playmate Anna Nicole, says she wants justice for her 52-year-old brother who she last spoke to just hours before his death.

"When I called him that night he didn't answer," she said. "I texted him and told him to call me.

"He talked to me like five times a day, that's my wonder twin, most of the time I'm like, 'Dude, you call me too much.'"

Friend Greg Mahl, who is based in LA and was planning to record an album with Mark, told The Sun he thought news of his death was a hoax and reached out to his family to confirm the shooting.

He said: "I was extremely shocked. I just talked to him on Facebook giving him my new number, telling him to give me a call. That was the last time I ever talked to the guy.

"He was the life of the party, he was loud, everybody loved him, especially the women. He's a little bit of a ladies' man."

Greg claims he was living at the home of an ex-girlfriend when the shooting happened, while he'd also recently split from a woman he married after a brief romance.

"He fell in love, got married, one of those stupid Las Vegas-style stories," he said. "They later split up, he'd been married a few times."

Greg added: "We don't even know if there's a funeral, they could have the body for several weeks while they're investigating, we don't know."

Kings Tree News reported an incident occurred between Mark and the suspect the day before the fatal shooting.  Police responded and Mark spent the night in jail on a no trespass charge.

The Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office confirmed deputies responded to the shooting and found the caller trying to help Mark who was unresponsive and in a vehicle.

EMS attempted to render aid but was unsuccessful, according to officials. They claimed Mark had already succumbed to his injuries.

Playboy model Anna, who died from an accidental drug overdose in 2007 at age 39, dated Mark in early 2000.

Anna accused her ex of confronting her with a knife in her bedroom in June of the same year. She then claimed he continued to stalk and threaten her for two years after she ended their relationship.

He also allegedly assaulted her neighbor when the man asked him to leave.

Mark was found guilty of making criminal threats against the model and attacking her neighbor.

He was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Anna's life was filled with tragedy before her death. Her son Daniel passed away in 2006 at age 20 from a drug overdose.

She is also mom to daughter Dannielynn, 13, with Larry Birkhead.

The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to call 843 355-6381.
