Sheridan Smith in line to play Sun legend Sam Fox in new TV drama

The actress, 37, is being courted to star as a younger version of the former Page 3 model in a show that'll tell the tale of Fox's rise to fame and life in the spotlight.

Samantha, 52, told the Daily Star: "I would love for Sheridan to just say yes.

"I'm working on it. She would be perfect.

"I want to find a rising star to play my younger self and Sheridan Smith in my 30s."

The biopic is said to be in the early stages of planning – so it's more of a pipe dream than reality.

A source told the Daily Star: "There have been a lot of meetings and there are wheels in motion.

"A date for filming has been set, but it's hoped it could be before the end of the year."

First appearing on The Sun’s Page 3, Fox retired from modelling aged 20 to pursue a career in the music industry.

Sam has since become a regular face on reality TV and panel shows.

These include Celebrity Wife Swap, Come Dine With Me, I’m a Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother in 2016.

She is worth an estimated £15million and hit the big time in 1983, when she began appearing as a topless model on Page 3 of The Sun, aged 16.

She continued as a Page 3 girl until 1986, and during this time, she became the most popular pin-up girl of her era.

Chart success followed after her modelling days, and she launched her music career starting with the 1986 release, Touch Me (I Want Your Body).

The song reached the top of the charts in 17 countries and she has sold more than 30 million records throughout the world.
