SAS Who Dares Wins: ‘I’m always CALCULATED’ Ant Middleton reveals how he trained celebs

The final episode of SAS Who Dares Wins finally airs tonight, and viewers will get to see who out of the group of celebrities will have passed the intense and gruelling Special Forces course on the Channel 4 programme.

The team of directing staff – Ant Middleton, Jason Fox, Ollie Ollerton and Mark “Billy” Billingham – have all gone hard on the celebrities this series, proving that it doesn’t matter who you are when it comes to being in the country’s most elite force.

Yet many viewers have questioned whether the team actually went harder on the celebrities, in order to prove a point.

Speaking in an interview with Express.co.uk, author Ant has revealed all on his methods to train the likes of Jeremy Irvine, Wayne Bridge, Victoria Pendleton, AJ Odudu and Sam Thompson.

“No, no, I don’t think we went harder,” he said emphatically.

“I think our job was easier because with the normal recruits it takes a day or two to really find out who they are [underneath].

“But with these guys, there’s already a persona there.

“With these guys we know, especially being in that limelight as well – of course, they inspire a lot of people and they have to have that glossy side to them – but we know.

“And we knock that down straight away.”

The star went on to explain that the celebrities always faced the same challenges as the civilian recruits on the show, and he has a very strict plan in place on how to train them.

“So it wasn’t that we treat them any different,” he said. “I didn’t go in any harder on them.

“I’m always calculated in what I do.”

Despite this, Ant noted it was easier to strip away the celebrities’ facade, and get to see what was underneath.

“We could get to work a lot quicker,” the ex-soldier explained.

This series has seen the first batch of celebrity recruits trying their best to successfully pass the course.

Along the way there has been casualties and inuries, and a number of celebs have decided to voluntarily withdraw from the programme.

In particular former Love Island star Camilla Thurlow chose to withdraw after suffering an injury during a task up the Chilean Andes.

Loose Women panellist Andrea McLean suffered from hypothermia in the second episode so chose to leave the programme.

SAS Who Dares Wins concludes tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
