Ruby's life ripped apart after baby news in EastEnders

It’s been a busy week in Walford and as the week draws to a close, the drama is far from over in EastEnders as Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) is set to face the consequences of her actions over the past few months.

Viewers have had a mix of sympathy and anger towards Ruby as she has struggled to hold on to the affection of her husband Martin (James Bye), while feeling threatened by his ex (and her former BFF 4 lyf) Stacey (Lacey Turner).

Things reached a head when Ruby ended up framing Stacey for pushing her down the stairs, which caused her to lose her baby and Stacey has been lounging in prison since.

Jean (Gillian Wright) recently learned the truth and Ruby took drastic action, shopping her to the police over her accidental stint as Walter White from Breaking Bad. But it’s all about to come unstuck.

Martin knows what she did and he is not in a forgiving mood – but tragically for Ruby, the showdown is going to come at the happiest possible time for her; just when things are about to work out.

Staring at a positive pregnancy test, Ruby is elated after her recent devastating miscarriages and she reckons it could be a fresh start for herself and Martin.
But he soon arrives full of rage for Ruby and confronts her over what he has learned from Stacey.

It’s no secret that Louisa has finished filming for maternity leave, having recently welcomed her first baby with fiance Ben Bhanvra and tonight’s episode will mark the ‘sticky end’ that BBC head of Continuing Drama Kate Oates warned was ahead for her alter ego.

How she will exit remains to be seen, of course, and viewers will have to tune in. But given it’s been a week of fires, explosions, births, arrests, fist fights and revelations, don’t expect a low key end to the week.

Will Martin discover that Ruby is carrying his baby or will she leave the Square in shame, keeping it to herself and facing an uncertain future? Or could Martin or Jean even turn her over to the police for her false report against Stacey?

Either way, a triumphant saunter into the sunset seems unlikely. Lacey is set to return from maternity leave and will be central to a storyline involving Stacey and her fellow prisoner Eve, also released.

So just as Martin recovers from one drama, there is another sure to come…
