Roman Kemp parties until 5am with Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi at top-secret party and misses start of his radio show

CAPITAL FM DJ ROMAN KEMP has revealed how he missed the start of his Breakfast show after a night out boozing with celeb pals.

In an exclusive chat, Roman admitted he went a step too far celebrating after hosting both nights of the station’s Jingle Bell Ball last month.

And after drinking red wine, champagne and far more until the early hours with Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi, his hangover was so bad he was late to work on the Monday morning.

Roman said: “On the Saturday everyone was really worried because of Covid and it was around the beginning of Omicron, but on Sunday I was like, ‘F**k this, I am going out!’.

“I went out too much, though. I blame Ed Sheeran’s wine, his red wine specifically. And Lewis Capaldi, who wasn’t even playing. Straight after the show I was with Ed and we were just drinking wine until silly o’clock.

“But then I got a call and it was Lewis. He FaceTimed me and Ed and was like, ‘Come to this party’. And I just went.

“Ed is a dad now, he is sensible, he has his baby and his wife to focus on. But Lewis is a bit of a liability in my life. Every time he is in town I will be like, ‘Oh, go on then’.

“We were out-out. I was in a nightclub until 5am. People were saying to me, ‘You’re on air in an hour!’.”

Unsurprisingly, Roman ended up sleeping through his early-morning alarm. His co-hosts Sonny Jay and Sian Welby made light of it but Roman said he’d never forget it.

The DJ was speaking at the launch of Vodafone’s everyone.connected campaign, encouraging people to donate their old devices to tackle digital poverty (search online for everyone.connected).

He added: “I passed out and someone was banging on my door at 6.30am saying, ‘You’ve got to do the show.’

“I had to apologise on my way in. I got in a lot of trouble.”

The DJ, son of Spandau Ballet bassist Martin, also revealed how Ed stepped in to try and save the day after Coldplay were forced to pull out of their Jingle Bell Ball slot at London’s O2 Arena.

He said: “When Coldplay dropped out we got a call from Ed saying, ‘I will play two nights if you want me to’.

“He put himself forward for both nights, for free. He is such a good bloke.”

Idris Wills pal film

CINEMA superstars Will Smith and Idris Elba are planning on teaming up for a money- spinning movie.

I can reveal the duo have recently hit it off and have enlisted a small team of their favourite writers to develop ideas and concepts for the project – and are keen to find a story they are both passionate about.

A movie insider said: “Will and Idris are two of the biggest actors around and they feel like this is the right time to make something happen starring them both.

“They want to be in control so are taking the initiative of working on ideas themselves along with some writers.

“Then will pitch the idea to studios when they land on something they agree on.

“It is early days but they are excited about the stories they could tell together. They are on a similar wavelength so they want to make it happen.”

The pair met several years ago but have recently been in touch more regularly, with Idris hosting a Q&A with Will in London in November to promote the Fresh Prince actor’s autobiography.

The idea comes just days after Will won his first Golden Globe for Best Actor, thanks to his role in the drama King Richard.

Idris has recently been filming the Luther movie, while Will spent last summer shooting the action thriller Emancipation, which is expected to be released later this year.

Their schedules must be jam-packed at the best of times, but it sounds as though these two would clear their diaries to make this collaboration work.

Joel's working it out

NO wonder Joel Corry is so ripped, he has revealed he is best at fine tuning his music while working out.

He said: “I actually like listening to music that I’m working on when I’m in the gym because when you listen to it in the studio, it’s almost like you’re thinking about it too much.

“When you listen to it in other environments, you actually hear what needs to be changed or tweaked.”

The I Wish DJ admitted he also tests his music out when on the road.

He added during an Instagram Live: “The car’s a good one. The windows have to go down, the volume goes up. I annoy everyone.”

S Club 4 + no more

NINETIES band S Club 7 may have reunited for a huge arena tour of the UK in 2015 but fans still hoping to see the group back together seven years later could be in for an even longer wait.

Singer Tina Barrett has revealed that she and her bandmates Rachel Stevens – who will compete in Dancing On Ice this weekend – plus Bradley McIntosh and Hannah Spearritt are all up for a reunion.

But she avoided mentioning lead singer Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee and Paul Cattermole, suggesting they are less keen to get on board.

Tina said on the podcast The Hundamental Guide to Life: “I have to say, some of the members are up for it. I can actually say who.

“I know Rachel wants to do it, Hannah wants to do it. I would definitely love to do it, and Brad.”

However, she added: “But obviously we need all seven so we are going to see what happens really. More than half are up for it so you never know.”

All 11 of their singles made the Top Ten, with four going to No1, during their four years of releasing music.

With their peers such as Steps continuing to have success with hit albums, the sky is the limit.

Gaga does a Kylie

KYLIE Minogue's video for Can’t Get You Out Of My Head turns 21 this year, but her white outfit lives on, because Lady Gaga has copied it in this new photoshoot.

I had to do a double take to check it wasn’t the Aussie pop star when I saw this picture for W Magazine’s Best Performances issue – an annual feature highlighting stars at the forefront of cinema.

Lady Gaga is featured thanks to her critically acclaimed role in the movie House Of Gucci.

Also included was Adam Driver, sporting a tux, who played her character Patrizia Reggiani’s husband Maurizio Gucci in the film.

Other celebs featured were more flamboyant – Cate Blanchett and Kristen Stewart wore bright yellow and there was no missing Jennifer Hudson with her huge hairdo.

But Benedict Cumberbatch, playing with some flowers, looked more like Ali G. It’s fair to say he got the short straw when the stylists were handing out outfits.

Kanye and Putin

KANYE West is planning on visiting Russia to meet President Vladimir Putin – despite the fact they appear to be on the verge of invading the Ukraine.

Ameer Sudan, An adviser for the rapper, who calls himself Ye, told Billboard: “He will be spending a lot of time out there. Kanye knows what’s going on more than the average human being, he’s well aware of things. And it’s nothing against the United States or to cause conflicts, but Ye is Ye — he can’t be controlled.”

He went on to say how Kanye plans on holding a Sunday Service concert in the country with Putin as his special guest.

Ameer also said Kanye would be working on developing and growing his businesses with the help of billionaire businessman Aras Agalarov.

It comes two months after the Golddigger rapper compared himself to a younger version of Putin.

I can imagine how this is going to end…

Comeback kid George's new tune pure gold

GEORGE Ezra has teased the lead single, Anyone For You, from his forthcoming third album.

I told in November how he was gearing up to drop his comeback track in January and now he has posted the clip on Instagram.

In the snippet, he sings: “I could love you, I could be anything you want of me. And in the darkness of the night, baby let me be your light.”

The song, which is expected to come out in a matter of days, will be followed by his album later this year.

That appears to be called Gold Rush Kid, as the Shotgun singer has launched a website with that title and has album artwork for it on his own site.

George released his last record Staying At Tamara’s back in 2018.

He will perform a huge concert in London’s Finsbury Park on July 17 to showcase his new music.

Mia we go again, Romeo

ROMEO Beckham looked snap happy as he posed for a picture with girlfriend Mia Regan .

The budding footballer grinned as Mia pulled a face in the selfie she posted on Instagram. The couple were reunited over the festive period after being forced apart for weeks by travel restrictions.

Romeo, son of David and Victoria, is based in the US where he plays for the reserves of his dad’s Inter Miami team. While Mia has a promising career of her own back in the UK.

She was scouted by modelling agency Storm Management, which helped make Cara Delevingne one of the most recognisable faces in fashion.

If they play their cards right, these two could easily become the new Posh & Becks.

Mia managed to fly out to spend the festive period soaking up the sun Stateside with his famous family.

How the other half live, eh?
