Riverdale season 4 spoilers: Cheryl Blossom to undergo unexpected change after huge hint?

Riverdale has not been kind to Cheryl Blossom (played by Madelaine Petsch) over the years. The first season of The CW show saw her twin brother being killed off, while the second saw her being put in a Neanderthallic convent which attempted to remove her sexuality. Season three saw Cheryl taking a bit of her life back, as she started a relationship with Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan), but her good times may be over.

Earlier this year Cheryl created a brand new gang named the Pretty Poisons – but the extra firepower behind her may not be enough to keep her safe through season four.

Riverdale writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is wont to tease some upcoming details of his show in the run up to its release, and this week was no different.

Earlier this week Roberto posted an image of Cheryl with another image of her merged on top.

Next to her picture is the definition of Chimera, which alludes to something a little sinister for the character.

The text reads: “Chimera: A single organism that’s made up of cells from two or more “individuals’.

“That is, it contains two sets of DNA due to placental fusion during development.”

Cheryl has always been a character of many masks throughout the show, but this supposedly upcoming “Chimera” venture teases something altogether new.

While this is mostly nonsensical in terms of Cheryl’s future, fans of the show are already worrying about what this could mean for the gang leader.

They instantly began hitting out at the writer on Twitter, with one saying: “Why do you hate Cheryl so much?

Another wrote: “Cheryl we gon get you outta there.”

While a third threatened: “If you’ll hurt my baby, we’ll have a problem here.”

One viewer began theorising the image was teasing the arrival of another Blossom triplet, identical to Cheryl, saying: “Are you implying twins?”

Meanwhile Roberto has also recently spoken out about the death of Luke Perry, and how Fred Andrews’ death will be handled in the upcoming show.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Roberto explained Fred’s death will be announced by a brand new character, played by Shannen Doherty.

He told the publication: “Shannen plays the person who tells us what happened to Fred.

She was there and she’s an unexpected source of comfort to Archie.
