Proud Eamonn Holmes reveals picture of his first grandchild – and says 'just call me papa'

EAMONN Holmes has proudly revealed a photo of his first grandchild – and told her: "Just call me papa."

The This Morning host, 61, announced he was becoming a grandfather on the ITV show earlier this year.

Now Eamonn has given a first look at baby Emelia, whose dad is the star's firstborn son Declan.

The photo shows Declan cuddling up to his baby in a black-and-white snap.

He captioned the pic: "My First born Son Declan with his first born and my first Grandchild Emelia. Welcome to The World Emelia. Just call me Papa."

Declan is Eamonn's son from his ex-wife Gabrielle with whom he shares three kids.

He tied the knot to Jenny, who is a doctor, in Ireland in 2018.

Just call me Papa

Making the announcement about the pregnancy in April, he told This Morning viewers: "Declan is my eldest boy, he's 32, and Jenny is his beloved wife.

"They have just announced that I, together with Valerie and Robin, Jenny's mum and dad, and Gabrielle, Declan's mummy, we're all going to be grandparents.

"It's very good. We're very happy."

Eamonn's wife and co-host Ruth Langsford, who is Declan's step-mother, added: "Declan and Jenny – we're so, so happy for you. Lots of love to you.

"They're going to be the most wonderful parents."

Emotional news

Eamonn revealed he got emotional when he was told the happy news.

He said: "I didn't think I would be so happy, but when they told me the news I got very emotional about it.

"I just thought, 'Me? I'm so young and vibrant.'

"What lovely news, regeneration. The old guard goes out, the new guard comes in.

"Declan is the same age that I was when I, well, your mummy, had you."

"Jenny – we wish you well. The baby is due in July sometime."

He also joked: "Please, no obligation to call the child Eamonn.

"We don't know if it's a boy or girl, we just want you to be healthy and happy.

"Thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness into our lives."

Ruth quipped: "I'm the wicked step-mother, so maybe I'll be the wicked step-grandmother now."
