In the final ever episode of Power, Starz viewers witnessed the truth behind Ghost’s (played by Omari Hardwick) death unfold. After the likes of Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora) and Andre Coleman (Rotimi) were ruled out as suspects, it was revealed that Ghost’s son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) was the one to pull the trigger and kill his own father, setting up a truly tantalising spin-off series in the form of Power Book II: Ghost.

Tariq was ultimately found innocent of his father’s murder in Power as detective Blanca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) pinned the blame on his mum Tasha (Naturi Naughton).

After their plans to frame Dre fell through, Tasha decided to try and pin the blame on her new boyfriend Q (Marc John Jefferies).

However, unbeknownst to Tasha, Q had secured himself an alibi after driving her to Truth where Ghost was shot.

Q was instead buying himself a Red Bull while Tasha was inside the nightclub trying to stop her son from shooting Ghost.

Despite Tariq’s protests, Tasha agreed to take the fall and was last seen donning the orange jumpsuit behind bars.

Tariq on the other hand, headed to university in order to complete a degree and be granted the money left for him by his father in his will.

However, while some viewers were rather baffled by the speed at which the NYPD came to the conclusion, a huge clue during Tariq’s interrogation scene appears to have been overlooked.

And given the entire case for Tasha being pinned for the murder is built around her alibi, it seems to have been a huge point in the process to miss.

Tariq was left in an interrogation room with Cooper Saxe (Shane Johnson) as he was quizzed about his father’s demise.

The teen feigned his agony before sending his attorney out of the room to get him some water.

With her absent, Tariq blackmailed Saxe into believing Dre was responsible for the murder as he’d spotted the lawman at the scene of the crime just moments after he shot Ghost.

However, just moments earlier in the interview, he’d, perhaps unknowingly, implemented his ‘uncle’ Tommy in the crime.

In the scene, Saxe grilled Tariq: “You were on the scene, Tariq. You were right there!”

Tariq hit back: “I told you I went to the party and I left to meet with my Uncle Tommy.

“When I came back, my dad was already…[cries].”

Saxe was stern with his response, failing to believe Tariq until he’s blackmailed moments later off the record.

However, Tariq’s mention of Tommy was recorded and would surely be a major part of the criminal investigation.

Even though Blanca wasn’t in the room, she will have had to take a look over Tariq’s notes and recording for any details leading to an arrest.

Even though Tommy was last seen driving out of New York to the west coast, it’s highly likely he’d need to be interviewed to confirm Tariq’s alibi.

Could Blanca notice the error in Book II and track Tommy down for answers?

And when she realises the pieces of the puzzle don’t quite add up when she interviews Tommy, will Tariq finally face justice?

Power seasons 1-6 are available to stream on Netflix UK now.
