Pink pays tribute to Black Lives Matter in ‘iconic’ BRITs 2019 performance

Pink paid tribute to the Black Lives Matter movement during her closing performance at the BRIT Awards this evening, which many branded "iconic".

The singer, 39, became the second ever international act to win a Brit Award for ‘outstanding achievement’ since U2 in 2001.

Closing the awards ceremony this evening, Pink performed a medley of songs and changed her outfit numerous times.

This included a dressing gown, cape and finally a newspaper print raincoat.

After singing her final song, What About Us, Pink stood with the rest of her dancers with their fists in the air.

Fans flocked to Twitter to comment on her performance.

One tweeted: "What an absolutely AMAZING performance… I’m completely gobsmacked, emotional and in complete awe of the fantastic lady that is “PINK” just fabulous."

While another commented: "Infinite legend!!! #WalkMeHome #StreamWalkMeHome #BRITs."

Olly Murs also wrote: "Wow this @Pink performance #BRITS2019 absolute [fire]."

Past recipients include David Bowie, Queen, Oasis, Fleetwood Mac, Pet Shop Boys and the Spice Girls.

Opening the Brits tonight was Hugh Jackman with a medley of songs from 2017 musical Greatest Showman.

Ahead of his performance, the 50-year-old actor teased fans with exciting clips from rehearsals, promising that it was "going to be awesome".

And, with just hours to go, he said on the red carpet that he was "super excited" to take part.

"My whole view of shows like this is about celebrating the music and the nominees, so my job is just to set a tone," he told Hits Radio. "Which is my way of saying that I’m going to have an absolute blast."

Jack Whitehall hosted the 29th BRIT Awards live from the O2 Arena, but celebs began causing drama early on the red carpet with a plethora of outrageous outfits.

Leading the charge was Love Island star Montanta Brown, who turned up in a very skimpy outfit that left very little to the imagination .

The BRITs were also forced to apologise after Lily Allen swore on the red carpet during a live feed.

Lily won an award in 2010 and made a dramatic entrance to the award show, flying in on a glittery rocket, then negotiating a staircase and army-themed dancers.

She said "There were these soldiers that looked like penises", to which Evans even replied "it sounds like a dream I had".

Lily spoke of her trying not to slip on the staircase, saying: "I flew on this rocket. I was s******* myself."
