Piers Morgan slams militant vegans for not protesting against their own families' Christmas dinners on GMB

The 53-year-old asked the trio if any of their families eat meat despite their strong stance against it.

As the women – who also campaigned in a local supermarket against people buying turkeys – all tried to dodge the question, Piers repeated it relentlessly.

He added: "There's a point to the question.

"My point being, if your family members eat meat, why are you not stampeding into their rooms when they're eating their Christmas turkeys and protesting at your own families?"

As the women said they do have those debates with their loved ones, Piers shot back: "So over Christmas lunch you'll all be standing there with your placards in your own homes will you? Playing cows being slaughtered?"

As they all defended themselves, Piers continued: "I get it, I admire the passion, but my argument is you're hypocrites."

As the debate continued, Piers added: "If you want to protest against meat eaters, come to my place with your placards and your music and we'll have a proper chat as I'll be there with my meat eaters and we'll fight fire with fire."

Piers wanted to know why the three women took such a drastic approach, which included playing the sound of animals being slaughtered after barging into a local restaurant.

The women said they were following demonstration tactics used throughout history for other causes, but Piers was having none of it.

The activists were seen encouraging shoppers at the store in Brighton, East Sussex, to shun animal products as they held up plates covered in fake blood.

The vegan group, called Direct Action Everywhere (DxE), walked into the store yesterday waving placards saying "It’s not food, it’s violence".

Standing side by side in an impenetrable line, shoppers were prevented from reaching packs of steak, mince, chicken, turkey and other meats from the shelves.
