Piers Morgan reveals shocking truth behind that hospital photo
Piers Morgan has revealed the truth behind the shocking image of him in hospital.
Late last week, the controversial Good Morning Britain host tweeted a photo of him in hospital, with tubes in his nose as he put on a semi-smile.
However, it turns out this photo was not put out as expected, as Piers revealed he had no idea he had even taken the picture until thousands of people sent him concerned messages.
The presenter was getting some tests done in hospital and opted for a sedative which, it turns out, knocked him for six.
He said: "I have this thing bothering me – stomach-related – so eventually I went and had all these tests done and one of them is when they stuff this big tube down your throat…
"They give you the choice, ‘Do you want to just have a bit of spray and go for it with this thing jammed down our throat… or do you want the sedative?’"
Throughout this discussion, Piers made a very saucy joke about Richard Arnold finding having something "jammed down your throat" an easy option, before continuing his story.
Piers continued: "I said, ‘What would you all do?’ and the doctors and nurses said you’ve got to have the sedative, 20 per cent go without it and they gag and puke and all that and it’s horrible.
"I had the sedative and you’re supposed to stay awake while it’s happening you’re kind of aware but the next thing I know I woke up in recovery – it’s all over, done, didn’t remember a thing.
"I had my phone on me and basically in that picture I’m still half-sedated but my phone was near me and they all left the room to leave me to it, I got the phone and I had no idea I’d done this…
"I posted the picture, I then had a little chat with the consultant of which I have no memory at all, so then I’m allowed home in a cab, go home, sleep for two or three hours.
"I wake up and there’s like a thousand messages saying, ‘What’s happened? Are you alright? And I thought, ‘What have I done?’"
Susanna Reid, his presenting partner, giggled as he told his story, joking at how surprised people would be to see such an image pop up on their phones.
