Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid leaving Good Morning Britain for TWO weeks – with Richard Madeley filling in

PIERS Morgan and Susanna Reid are lining up a lengthy break from Good Morning Britain – with a parade of guest presenters drafted in to replace them.

The pair will host the hit ITV show together on Friday 5 April before disappearing from our screens for more than two weeks.

Their absence from the show coincides with the Easter school holidays, meaning 53-year-old Piers can spend more time with Elise, his seven-year-old daughter with wife Celia.

He and 48-year-old Susanna will return to the popular breakfast show after the Easter Monday bank holiday on Tuesday 23 April.

First up to replace them is show favourite Richard Madeley, who will anchor the programme for the first three days that Piers and Susanna are off.

The 62-year-old, who is expected to be paired with Kate Garraway, was a hit during a recent hosting stint for cutting off defence secretary Gavin Williamson.

Piers and Susanna also took nearly a month off in February ahead of hosting the show from the Oscars, with Richard standing in.

A studio source told The Sun: "Richard polls really well with viewers, and also garners a big social media response whenever he’s on."

Perhaps mindful of this, Richard has already threatened to shut down more politicians.

Writing in he and wife Judy Finnigan's Express column, he taunted party leaders writing: "I'll be back on hosting duties with Good Morning Britain in a couple of weeks.

"The list of questions I'd like to ask Jeremy Corbyn or Theresa May would now fill a fat notebook. But I won't get the chance. Corbyn and May are frit."

Richard added: "The invitation's open, guys. And I promise not to 'terminate' you a la my recent GMB interview with defence secretary Gavin Williamson. As long as you answer the questions, obviously."

It is not known which other presenters will be standing in for Piers and Susanna but during the Easter break last year, Kate, Eamonn Holmes and Ranvir Singh all covered for the pair.

Newreader Charlotte Hawkins is also expected to take a leading role.
