Paul O'Grady reveals he got hit in the face by a Great Dane while walking in his local park

PAUL O’GRADY may need to raid alter-ego Lily Savage’s make-up box to hide a new shiner.

The talk show presenter has revealed he got hit in the face during a walk in his local park – by a dog.

He explains: “There was a Great Dane puppy, nearly seven-foot standing on his hind paws, and he came straight into the park, took one look at me, and punched me straight in the mouth. Not patting me with his paw. Full blown bang, like David Haye, straight in the gob.”

And the host of new ITV series Paul O’Grady’s Saturday Night Line Up revealed that onlookers showed zero sympathy.

He added: “If it was anybody else on telly, they’d all be saying ‘Are you alright? Would you like anything?’ Not me.”

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn should organise a televised rematch.

The celebrity joy of ex

SIX former Love Islanders are back on telly – only this time fully clothed.

Leanne Amaning and the others are among 16 contestants taking part in the new series of Ex In The City, which starts on October 20 on MTV.

They go on blind dates in London, only for an ex-lover to arrive too.

The show is a spin-off to Ex On The Beach, which has proved difficult to film due to Covid. Above we reveal the celebrities taking part.

Exec was a dope on Alma

ALMA’S Not Normal star Sophie Willan has revealed a posh telly executive turned down her sitcom years before it won a Bafta.

The actress was told viewers would not find female heroin addicts amusing, but she is having the last laugh after the pilot episode bagged the award in May.

The full series is now available on BBC iPlayer and Sophie is hoping the comedy will get a second outing.

Speaking on The Russell Howard Hour on Sky Max, Sophie said: “I had a commissioner not commission Alma a few years ago because he said, ‘Female heroin addicts are not funny, they’re frightening’.

“How wrong he was. He’s been to Eton and never met one, that’s what’s happened.”

New C5 drama on horizon

CHANNEL 5 has commissioned a new drama called Compulsion.

The four-part series stars Cold Feet actress Leanne Best as Jenny who, after being involved in an horrific train crash, develops a gambling addiction as she tries to cope with her PTSD.

The programme airs next year.

E4 pairs getting naked

FINALLY, the heir to Keith Chegwin's Naked Jungle has been revealed.

E4 is launching a show called Naked, Alone And Racing To Get Home.

The series sees two pairs of strangers dropped starkers in the middle of nowhere and tasked with finding a bustling town centre 20 miles away.

They will be given a map but no phones or money and are banned from trekking through the night, so they will have to find a way to blag themselves some accommodation.

The winners get £5,000 for their chosen charity.

Hopefully they will at least get some new underwear.
