Paris Hilton shocked the world when she announced she had become a mother 10 months ago, welcoming her son Phoenix through a surrogate.
In the latest season of her reality show Paris In Love, the socialite revealed that even her own mother didn’t know her plans until she delivered Phoenix into her arms in a touching moment that was caught on camera.
However, viewers were completely distracted when watching the sneak peek of the upcoming series on The Today Show by how Paris and Kathy were physically holding the newborn.
In the clip, Paris is seen casually sitting with her mum when she leaves to get “a surprise” and returns with a large blue blanket completely covering baby Phoenix.
The 42-year-old declared: “This is your grandson, Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum.”
Almost instantly Kathy bursts into tears and reaches forward to hold the newborn, with an awkward exchange following as Paris handed over the tiny baby.
On X, viewers did not hold back saying they were “deeply unsettled” by the clip and the way the two women held the latest addition to their family.
One wrote: “Phoenix was fighting for his life with two women who seemingly have never held a baby before.”
Another slammed that Kathy was only crying “because the nanny isn’t there and she doesn’t know what to do,” while others claimed the NBC hosts had “horror in their eyes” when the cameras turned back to them.

Speaking to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Kathy confessed that the moment was “the biggest surprise of my life” and initially thought Paris had bought a puppy or a monkey.
Phoenix also wasn’t the last baby Paris surprised her mother, and the world, with as she revealed she had welcomed a second child last week.
The Hollywood star and her husband, businessman Carter Reum, welcomed a daughter named London in November with fans pointing out she may have been dropping hints about the baby girl for months.
In March, Paris opened up during a live chat on her podcast saying: “I’m really excited for Phoenix to have a baby sister one day.
“I had actually picked that name for a long time now, probably over 10 years. I always wanted London I love that name for my daughter.”
